David....... are you suggesting to start digging all bottlecaps?

((( It IS possible to add a seperate (ferrous) tone to Ferrous Limits - Lower )))

No I am not suggesting a user to dig all bottlecaps.
User could decide to do though depending (bottle cap yielding iron tone would mostly be shallower vs some iron/nails. So less effort maybe to dig shallower bottle cap as potential masker vs deeper nail.
Current Manticore setup user gets same tonal pitch on both shallow bottle cap (with enough lower ferrous limits set) and iron/nail (both shallower and deeper).

SOOOooooooo much to say........... but not enough time! (Yet).

Where I see your idea being MORE applicable........ is still based on the same theme. Yes...... a steel bottlecap will mask a few cubic feet of soil. There can be a lot of good targets within that 'few cubic feet' of dirt . , . , . , . , . , . especially at a premium-producing site.
You would NOT believe the amount of DELIBERATE "nails-digging" I have been doing recently (((but only at premium-producing sites)))....... and it sure has paid off. I just can't seem to get any of my other detecting buddies to go dig nails with me! [[[[Heavy concerted unmasking effort/intent]]]].

Where your idea may attribute...... is ......even larger sheet-steel...... which ID's just like a bottlecap. , . , . , . , . , down in the Ferrous Limits - Lower region. A lot of sheet-steel in the ground ....at older sites.... is usually a few times larger than a steel bottlecap. A (say) 4" x 4" piece of roofing tin (sheet-steel) can mask out a cubic YARD of dirt!

Outta time!!!

I was hunting a few years ago with a T2se in all metal in an iron site. When I would get a screaming iron hit I would dig it. The iron pieces were about 2" around. Also dug a few nails. I got a few brass pieces under the iron I dug. You are right Tom, some areas you need to dig some iron.

Makes me want to get a T2se again. The T2se all metal in boost was incredible. I was surprised it was screaming on small pieces of iron.
