Hmmmmmmmmm. I've heard about Backwoods multiple times (now). I'm starting to believe that he is a really good dealer!
I fear Dealers are 'going away'. Today's motto from the manufacturers is: "We're going DIRECT". This kills the Mom & Pop shops.

Richard is a great guy & excellent to do business with. He is the exclusive DeepTech dealer for the USA but also carries a full line of other makes & accessories.

I assume in iron, a slow sweep is required and would also help with iron falsing.

Yes.... a slow sweep speed...... in concert with a bit higher Response Speed. If I am using the M8 coil in a highly trashy area....... a Recovery Speed of '4' (never higher than 5) ..... seems to work the best. Any faster Recovery Speed......and the law-of-diminishing-returns prevails. In most cases..... I'll run Ferrous Limits - Upper & Lower on 7 & 3. This allows for 'some' iron see-through; yet, is a fairly acceptable setting for iron 'falses'. A Sens of 24 is plenty.....for high trash environments.

Very good info. I needed that. Now I feel ready to take off with the Manticore.
The lakes by me all have deep sandy bottoms. I'll probably be able to run it hot in the lakes. It's going to be fun this summer.
Thank you Tom.

I also hope the Manticore will hit on iron relics like these from northern Michigan.

Absolutely! And I would recommend setting Ferrous Limits - Upper/Lower on 4/3 for starters. You may end up being on 3/2. AND ..... these settings will also unmask another group of non-ferrous targets in close proximity to iron.
If you are hunting iron implements (like the ones in your photo)...... you're going to love the available adjustability of Upper & Lower FERROUS LIMITS!!!

Manticore sneaks out a good one using M8 coil.
