With nearly any software update (video games, apps, etc.) - especially if the base software is large - there's always a good

Looks like that post was just made yesterday, and I seem to recall you having a problem with Tarsacci users or the machine itself for longer than that. To quote you, "my B.S. meter is going off".
No, that was not a cool post, though it was not posted here on NASA_Tom's forum.
You've stirred the pot for some time and made negative and inflammatory comments toward some ve

That's great information, Abenson. My dirt is also 4-5 bar, and I've been second guessing myself since I bought the EQX last month.
May eventually get the Tarsacci, but overall the EQX seemed like a better fit for me with the 50 tones and the fact that old coins are my primary interest since civil war relics are very rare in my area.

I think she's just going to where she normally would to get a baseline on the Apex compared to what she's used there before. Not sure about others using the Apex in their videos.
The video where she's in a lot of iron is somewhere in my vicinity of east Texas, probably a bit south of here. I can relate to the heat, humidity, mineralization, and iron ore she mentions... ugh!

That's a great tip I didnt know. Thanks!

Outstanding, that Tarsacci really has some secret sauce! I don't even have to try that with my Nox and other detectors to know they'd only see the foil.
Thanks for sharing.

Nice finds--really like that token.
Any 'gators or water moccasins in your neck of the woods? We have them all over my area, and there's no way I'd get in the water with low visibility here!
Thanks for sharing.

Fun bunch to watch.
It definitely found the goods. Extra tone range was interesting. Kind of a shame it isn't waterproof. Will be interesting to see what it can do when it's released.

That's definitely more food for thought...
Think I will read and watch more videos on both for a while and try to make a good decision... so far I'm observing a balance of pros and cons for both, which I believe is the case for comparing most detectors. And no decision has to be final, despite what my wife might say!
Tom, you have done the detecting community a great service with

Wow, thank you Tom! I highly value your input.
I probably should have included that I am mostly interested in finding old coins. I've found some down to nearly 7" with the Fishers, but feel that there are some that can't be seen in this soil even when there is no trash involved.
I am going to have to study on the Tarsacci now since I am not very familiar with it, and had pr

Hello all. Mostly an occasional lurker on this forum, though I haven't detected much in a couple of years or so due to some life changes.
I'm about to get back into it and have been reading lots on the EQX 800 on this forum including the long thread started by NASA_Tom. Think I might pull the trigger on one this week, but just wanted to make sure I wasn't being foolish.

Thanks Keith, I appreciate it. I'll give it a go and see what turns up. The new fill dirt at the oldish school was previously thick woods and briars that was dozed so I haven't been able to swing there before and pretty sure no one else has either... kinda excited about what might be there.

I've got an old block that had activity dating back to the late 1800s surrounded by a concrete wall that was obviously filled with about 8" of dirt probably in the 1970s. I've found lots of coins dating to the 1970s in the top 5" or so, but when digging down to 7" I've found lots of bricks and nails. I realize fill dirt presents some ground phase problems, but shor

I wonder if the reason the manufacturers aren't producing new saltwater detectors is a question of profit vs overhead to produce/them? I know coin hunting is big, and relic hunting, but is the number of people who would buy dedicated beach detector significantly smaller than those looking for coins and/or relics?

It almost seems that the "better" our technology gets the more our health suffers, sort of like a sci-fi movie. Factor in all the chemicals and drugs used on crops and food animals and add all the radio waves we're exposed to daily and we've got a lot to contend with in regards to our health. Then there are the food additives/preservatives and drugs from the pharmaceutical c

I know nothing about PI detectors, but you are spot on about the VLFs (single frequency units anyway). In minerally inert soil that is "sterile" a single frequency VLF will theoretically detect an object in the ground as deep as in the air. Add some minerals or other metallic objects and the depth usually decreases in ground (except in the case of the iron halo effect you mentioned un

I was thinking the same thing. DST was quite an improvement in terms of audible EMI.

I've got all 3 I've had since I started about 3 years ago, and can't bring myself to get rid of any of them. I know there are detectors better at certain things than the F75LTD(2), but to me it's my pride and joy since reading the longest thread on here about it and it'll probably always be my favorite.
