I can only surmise that those wooded area were once maybe Trench line's ? maybe filled in over the year's ...Notice the tree's are planted in rows like here in the south so the land has maybe been tilled ....
What I like about Tom is he digs some stuff a few inches deep ....and other thing's down feet deep....And that's just 70 year's...Imagine what we have here

but this guy in the video Is digging Nazi artifact's and he dig's an Helmet about 1:15 minutes in and it's got to be at least 3 ft...
Not sure of the machine he is using maybe someone will recognize the coil???
O yeah that Gorget he dig's is awesome...Probably pretty rare item..???

I would think coil size has nothing to do with the conductance of metal...
The metal object is what it is and any size coil that can see it will read it for it's true value...
the metal is a constant....The signal sent from the detector is a constant no matter the size coil it uses...certain laws apply that do not change...
Larger coils get stronger signals but do not read object

Sounds good Dan.....I know you like the CZ's....!!!
I remember having a CZ-7a one time that was weather proof and with the 18 battery's it ran forever and was probably balanced as good as any ....
Wish I had hung on to it...It was pretty dang deep...I bought it in a pawn shop for like 100.00 dollar's and it was almost mint....
Oh well!!
Hey Dan do you still have the Exp

Hey Steve the only one I have ever ran for any amount of tie was the 3500 model....A buddy of mine had one when they first came out and we used it in a camp I had worked on pretty hard with an explorer....
The Explorer was digging Bullet's (ringtail sharp's) at extreme depth's in there......the 3500 could here them also but with no disc circuit it heard every nail and other ferr

Thanks for the detailed reply Tom!!! It means a lot!!!
Your Pulse statement has me thinking......Are you stating that if the detector can receive/Sample twice before sending another pulse it can get some discrimination?
I think I see where you are going with this comparator .....do you think the comparator could sample twice between pulses and still keep the sensitivity to lower conductor&

Man that sounds awesome!!!!! Congrat's to you!!!
Can we get a picture of it?
If you can post a pic you can send it to me and I will get it up...
More and more gold coins coming out of the ground in the last few year's...There's a guy on Treasure Depot showing a 1840 2 1/2 dollar he dug yesterday with some luster still on it!!!
Did you play with the freq's before di

1===Silver Half dollar Gold plated 14kt.......
As I understand plating it is of a minute thickness...1/1000th of a millimeter ...So at that I would think the gold is probably....May I say probably invisible to the detector?
Normal absorption occurs through the gold skin and reading the silver at it's full value of 88....the silver is just basically overpowering the micro conductor sin

From my understanding the type 1 Gold dollar target is thinner when beaten to foil thin and silver dollar diameter ......So a metal detector looks at the surface area of the target and not necessarily just the horizontal plane to the coil but also the sides (thickness) of the target....
Now whats weird to me is if the theory I am using is correct the surface area even on the sides of the co

Well Tom From what I have always known on how a detector works is it reads the surface area of a target through the eddy current principal...So it does not read the mass of the target just the part of the target that is surface aligned to the bottom of the coil....
To take a stab at your gold coin question
Coin Type..................Diameter....................weight Grams.......

Thanks Tom!!!!
I figured it was the EMI......
As smooth as they have got the Gold Bug....Wonder if they can get that to carry over to a new machine to replace the F-75?

When is the new X-terra coming out? Anyone know...Heard they have sped the target response up on the new one....
Guess it will be soon?
I think the part's for the Sovereign are starting to get expensive to get hold of.....That's 20 year old part's now probably not a lot of manufacturer's use the part's for other item's ...... Older I.C's they might be pay

Funny you mention the AT Cal,...The Garrett sure does act like a lower freq machine ....it loves coins and is just average on low conductor's.....Almost seems like the 14-15 Khz range is the breaking point...........They can offer hotness across the board in this range or can be tuned one way or the other...but get above or below this freq and the Khz starts to play into it more so .......

You have found in your use of it.....Not talking about the mechanical aspect or physical layout ....Just performance wise what is the 1 thing that keeps popping up in your mind that you would like to see changed/enhanced.....
electrical interference ...Target I.D. instability..more responsive to certain target's...more accurate iron I.D....anything you care to share?

Thanks for the insight Tom!!
Medium conductor when large will be a higher conductor and high conductor's when small will be low conductor's.....I always had it in my mind a High silver Piece when small and on edge would read like a low conductor.....I seldom use meter's/or rely on them so ???
But the thing that blows me back is the medium conductor's when large being li

Do you have any half dime's to test? Thanks for doing that Test for sure Bud..
I sure would love to get a Deus..Just for the specific's you just mentioned.....I could spend hours comparing signals in the ground with the different freq's...
I wish FT would offer us a Multi with the ability to turn freqs on and off in at least 3- 4 different freq's in a wide range....I know

Hey Tom Thanks for the reply!!
Does deep silver on edge become a low conductor to a metal detector..... say a Morgan and 14 inches on edge.....
I know a Morgan lying flat at say 16 inches on a 4Khz 1266 machine should be seen in optimum condition's....Would a 1266 see it on edge at 14 inches??I am not sure it could?
I would almost bet an X-5 would see an Morgan at 14 on edge usin

Hey Tom Interesting!!!
In my dirt I have my best luck on the small silver with the 17KHZ and up range...
I have always found it interesting that such a High conductor react's because of it's size to higher freq machine's better in my comparison's anyway...
1-Why is it that a High freq machine look's at smaller target's better?
2-Are Higher freq machines som

The threshold on you excalibur is a disc thresh and not as critical as an all metal thresh....I never fool with it that much unless it becomes distractive or too loud..I set it on a sovereign at startup and leave it alone for the most part....But I would keep it low ....it mainly lets you know that something you have rejected has jus been passed over by resetting to a different tone....But it

Glad to see white's is moving along with the TDI....
I believe with the ability to run in the all mode now without the noise of the earlier TDI's it will make it alot better on I.D.ing iron.. by the tonal change...
I know on my TDI the all mode really helped on iron but just to dang warbley ( Is that a word

The inside come's out through the front....Take off the nut securing the coil connector to the housing and the headphone jack nut....then push them out ...they are soldered to the board and all of it will slide out the front Like the 1266 does or 1236 they do the same....unplug speaker lead and power lead's and the whole board and faceplate can be set aside.....
