I'm sure some here buy oversea parts, for instance Ebay has Global shipping, how do you track a purchase if it uses multiple carriers?

Start tracking using the country of origin postal service. Example, ordering from England you would use Royal Mail until package enters USA. Once it reaches USA tracking number will be entered into USPS system and you can track it by USPS.
