This Open Forum is now DISABLE to new posts due to the "Phorum" Forum Software being generally obsolete and basically no longer supported. I just got the Rutus Alter 71 last week and ran it this weekend in Deep Mode which is all metal + discrimination and loved it. It's something I have to get used to, but that along with the hodograph gives the user a lot of

I'm curious on your experience with EMI. Do you find it more or less of an issue on the Impact than your other detectors? I've seen many reports of EMI with the Impact, but no comparisons with other machines.

Laura at Detectkicks is very good to work with. I've corresponded with her a lot and always received a prompt response.
I'd love to see a good comparison between the Impact and the Alter 71. I've looked for someone who has used both. Either will probably be a good choice, but I think I'm going to risk ordering the Alter even without a US dealer.

The Alter 71 looks like a great machine. It would probably be at the top of my list if it had a US service option. It's nothing against Rutus, I just like knowing how I'd deal with an issue if one arises. It's even cheaper than the Impact.

Nokta seems to be doing it right. They've made arrangements to sell it through US distributors and have a service agreement with Kellyco. And I appreciate that their sales rep is so active on forums.
It puts the Impact in the mix for me.
