Anything that is released will be immediately compared to the Equinox in performance and price. The bar has been set and it is high.
I believe anything released by a Minelab competitor needs to offer something better than the Equinox. Not just as good as, but better. There is a crazy amount of Equinox owners out there, and they are not going to give them up very easily.
And please not an

Coil protection depends on a few factors. How often are you beach hunting? What is your beach comprised of? Rocks or sand? And do you drag the coil?
Myself? I never use a coil cover. I used bed liner for a while, but decided it wad the pretty much useless. Epoxy? Just too messy. If a coil wears out I buy a new one.
Things were more expensive in the Excal days. That hard wired coil requi

While the ears look thicker in the pics....can't really be sure...there is already a 15 inch coil.
The Minelab 6 inch offered little separation difference compared to the stock coil. So I doubt there will be any noticeable difference with the smallest of the three new ones.
Over all I really see no advantage of the new coils except for as mentioned....coil ear strength and just perso

I carry my shovel or digging tool in my non swinging hand. I find the root cutter design removes more skin on the legs. Yeah I hunt in shorts when it is hot. Just my opinion. Ratchet shears in the back pocket for roots.

Gold shot up something like 700 the last four years. So placing bets based on political parties is as polarizing as politics itself.

I believe you 100% on the EMI issue. It happened to me and two friends under a pier in Atlantic City years ago. My buddy with a 10 inch coil on his Sovereign could manage the situation. Myself and the other guy had large beach coils. We ran from the pier.
Just to be clear I would never suggest one detector is better than the other having never even seen one of them. I am just looking for that

Well..as I said I have never even seen a Vanquish so I'll have to take your word for it.
I don't dirt hunt much at all. Maybe twice a year. The things I learned about the Equinox...
The small coil is a waste of money. The stock coil does it all and is better at doing it. Sure you might need a small coil to get around obstructions, but for unmasking and iron ID the large coil perf

I disagree. The quest 30 is what 300.00? The Simplex 250.00? Both waterproof and of course both single frequency. The Multi IQ tech part is already th

I have never seen a Vanquish. I only know what I have read about it.
But I do own an 800. Had two at one point plus a 600. I trimmed it down to just the 800 over time. Very quick to the point....In my opinion the two settings on the Equinox that get the most out of it are setting the iron bias as low as possible and 50 tones. I would pay more for those two features. At least the price of a 60

I like to hunt the wet slopes and wave breaking areas. You need a large scoop that can remove sand quickly. This looks like a very nice dry sand scoop. The basket design is great for dry sand. Less shaking adds up to less fatigue over the hours of a hunt.

I had two CTXs at one time or another. I thought they were nice detectors. They will find stuff.
But in my opinion....over priced.
It is twelve year old tech.
In my personal opinion the Equinox 800 is a better detector.
Best part of the CTX was the tone adjustments. Being able to set it up on a computer was simple and quick. The sound settings were so good that looking at the scree

The MXT was the last detector to stand out as something special in my book. And to be honest I never used one. But I saw what a club member could do with his. Very impressive. Whites had to have something worth the investment. Something that was in the pipeline that never made it to production. I guess we will know in a couple of years.

The Hoover Boys consistently have a hunter using an Equinox in their videos. He finds some great stuff, but to be honest I think the finds are pretty even. They also hunt very large fields where masking is not an issue. It is more of a luck thing with getting your coil over the target. Plus the fields are tossed and the targets with it. They also do a fair share of water hunting in the hot months

I had two of them at different times. The first one I had was with the stock shaft. The weight and crappy balance made it uncomfortable to hunt with.
After I got my counter weighted shaft I took another chance with the coil. To make a long story short..
Yes the coverage was better on the beach. But I have a tendency to wander into the water and the coil was just to big.
My opinion...Th

Back to putting a Sovereign in a waterproof box.
I would tend to think pressure testing would expose a weakness in the design. Minelab doesn't seem concerned.

I remember using that 17 inch coil on beach hunt. Minelab actually offered it for free with a CTX purchase. Well...sort of. If you wanted the coil you had to pay the dealers MSRP. So it worked out the same. The coil itself covered tremendous territory. I used the GPS function to track my hunt for the day. I remember finding a gold ring that day, but that coil wore me out. I never used it again. B

I had the 6 inch for the Equinox. I never thought it offered an advantage over the stock coil. In fact in my opinion I thought the coil was a waste of money. Maybe Minelab with Equinox technology are on to something. Making small coils obsolete.
