Dew, In reading up on the mirage last night, it was said that the mirage was Sevn's baby. Does anyone know what is the best power MOSFET to source the coil on a PI unit? In reading up I've found that I need the fastest cutoff recovery and lowest output capacitance to help in getting the delay time lower. I want to build two coils, one for higher delay time (silver) and one for lowest d

dew, I'm in the process of building Carl's Hammerhead PI detector with thoughts of modifying it with some thoughts that I have. If the mods work then I'll try modifying my TDI. I've been over at findmall reading up on the Mirage version of the hammerhead. Thanks for your help.

Talking about resonant frequencies. I suppose most PI detectors are designed to detect small gold nuggets. If I were to design one to best detect silver, What would be the best frequency (resonant) pulse width, pulse voltage and delay? not concerned about battery size or life, internal noise, normal design factors ect. If there are other factors that would to help detect silver to be considered

First off let me say that I bought a new TDI SL (wish I could have found a used original TDI or TDI PRO maybe more depth and ability to sell without losing $) anyway a new SL. It will get a little deeper than my CZ3d Tom tuned, CTX3030 in my soil and probably any VLF. However the signal is so weak past 7" that I've not been able to discriminate rusty nails both small and large from hig

Thanks Bado1..most use for gold some for relics not many on coins. Hoping to get feedback on coins. Apparently there's not a lot of rusty nails in most gold fields but you would think relic hunters would know. Thanks again for your reply. I'm looking for a used GPX that I can test that I can sell without losing too much when the manta comes out.

I doubt that we have much gold here in Alabama, we're too far from the beach, and not much civil war fought here, so, that leaves coin shooting . However, we do have lots of iron in the ground (bad soil) and rusty nails. Will the GPX's, SD2200's or 2300's actually discriminate iron good enough to be able to go a little deeper than my CTX3030? My CTX is good for about 4"

The E-trac and CTX3030 has signal gain adjustment that brings the weak signal strength up to make it easier to hear. I wish that minelab would add this to the NOX. It would be good if they had a switch that would reverse the sound so that deep weak targets were loud and shallow targets were weak.

TNSS, thanks for the air test video. After watching I decided to air test again before doing a manual reset. Setting as follow: multi freq....volume 25...all metal...5 tones....threshold 0.... Iron Balance 0...sensitivity 22 (above 22 was a little sparky). With this everything checked normal, about same as the youtube video. I think I did the first air test after saving a user profile custom se

I've got the 800...I'm wondering about the coil also....before planting the coins, I did an air test that didn't look good. Test on a quarter was only about 8 inches. I'll try a reset and test again. I'm hoping I did something wrong. Thanks

Can one of you guys help me? I got my Equinox yesterday, charged it up and set the bins up to suit my style of detecting. This morning after digging (cleaning) everything in the area, I dug three holes and planted a clad dime. a clad quarter, and a nickel at a measured 7 inches with coins flat. Did a noise cancel...auto GB showed 48...set to all metal...multi freq....iron bias 0....response at 6.

Thanks Tom ...Good information. I'm still waiting to get mine. My soil in Central Alabama is medium to highly mineralized, so, I'm hoping to get another inch vs my E-trac and CTX3030. The deepest silver dime that I've dug here has been 7" and have all read as iron in the bottom right hand of the screen. Some sites around Birmingham I can't see beyond 3". Auto trackin

Thanks for the link sod buster. After reading the manual it sounds like the "target ID depth adj." possibly helps the audio signal at the expense of target ID. I would like a detector that can discriminate the top 2 or 3 inches at trashy parks. Anyway thanks

All I know is that a couple months back I bought a new F75 and a Teknetics Omegia V4 that I'm not satisfied with. My old CZ3D is better by far than either one.

Keith, In reading Tom's comments, it sounds as though the depth in bad soil is a little lacking. Do you think they will be testing for a solution for down load to help this? I'm not sure, as of now, that an Impact will help those of us that have high mineralized soil. Thanks

Thanks Mike, I'm hoping that one day someone will develop a discriminate depth level circuit adjustable from 1" to say 6" where everything deep comes in loud and clear with good ID deeper than my CTX3030. Dreaming......

For the ones that have the Mask 5, How does the disc. depth work? The book says that at low (0) setting iron will not false (high tone) at depth. Is this true? Thanks

Mine on the way confirmed Ver. 4 also....11" DD coil coming with mine...Do I need an ultimate 13" for depth or a 5" DD for trash? Or will the 11" do it all? Any help appreciated. Thanks
