No sir...one of my best finds was within the last 2 weeks. 1787 period counterfeit Spanish copper coin. The crazy thing is, I have dug more large pre 1800 copper coins than I have Indian cents. My guess is that once the foreign coins finally bec

first detector, Garrett ace250. First day, took it to an uncle's once public freshwater beach, now private...i THINK the first silver was a rosie, but that afternoon I got silver rosie, merc, washington quarter, standing quarter, 35% nickels, probably 30 silver coins in over 200 coins dug that first day

Sorry Rick..you cant have it back! it has found me too many old buttons and coins so far. added the new camlock and the 8" round coil. I am trying to decide what to take to the beach with me this summer vacation, though. i might just take it and stick to the dry sand this year.

mock the deeptechs all you like...
After a lot of hours on my VGG now, hunting in fields, and even digging a lot near homes,
I can hear and call a button compared to a coin by the crisp high and still getting crisp low on shanks
I can hear the crackly sound when working off the edges of object, even high tones, and know it is foil, and not a coin or button
I can hear the crackly sound

TNS,
really hard to see for me, but the 1797 Large Cent (and others) had a variety called a gripped edge. Not reeded, but has the crosswise cuts. Google it to see pics.

Mike,
I have a PDF of the manual. PM me your email and I will send it.
I absolutely love my VGG. Nothing on vollyball sand court is safe from it. I have a new sand court going to hit in the next week or so. Have gotten 4 stud earrings, and have gotten 3 earring backers as well. Since it is a nice easy dial...when I find what is obviously a very small target, i make note of how high i n

the smart watch is so you can send a minion out in the field to hunt and dig....you stay in back of pickup in lazy chair, and can keep tabs on the ID....

In my normally mild ground, I will use the F75 in old sites that are still being used...homes and barns built in the 1700 and 1800s. I need the depth, but if a target sounds good in all metal, I check the ID. the 1n mode with the 5" DD or 5x10 concentric rocks for that.

I only have a couple months on the Deeptech VG Gain, but I have dug more iron on purpose in these months than the rest of my detecting time prior. The large iron items give high tone, but the edges still go to low...lets me select nice sized iron to dig, and leave the nails, as those almost always have rough dirty sounds. So far the best iron relic is both parts of an old axe head that split on

when I am out detecting, any time I see a fragment of plates, pottery, dishes, etc, I pick it up and save it. I have started to get quite a collection of these pieces. Some have writing on them, but many just have parts of designs.
I would love to try to actually identify some of these items. Maybe it is a lost cause. If any of you have or know of reference books or good websites I can b

I keep all the pottery, china, glassware, porcelain I find if the site is old. Some is boring, some is extremely colorful. Only a few items have enough lettering on to read, yet. One day, when I have enough, I will have a large wall mounted display case of it.

so right, Ozzie..
The last ranger that stopped me at unnamed park, checked my permit...
Since he made me walk all the way across the field to him, I decided to ask him some questions.
If i find a spot I want to dig...and it is right near the main walking path...and you start getting phone calls...will that be a problem? His answer....Will you have your permit on you? I said, yes. He

I went back yesterday for half an hour...got 2 more half pennies...1733 and 1744. used f75 in AM. Signals were clear as day. I guess next trip going to have to take both detectors, and check targets. I will use 7.5 on the MMK and see what i can find.

Been a long time. the grass in the field was growing like crazy...unworkable.
I was getting desperate...so got permission from owner, took my push mower over there, and mowed an area over the old house site, and an area around where i got the 1749 half penny.
Got sunburnt.
with the grass cut down to as low as my mower would go....man, the amount of deep iron just exploded that the Kruze

talk about lack of quality control if metal detector manufacturers have to let Apple or Android software writers from wherever control their devices..cant see it ever happening.

Been on site a couple times now. the grass/weeds growing like mad, so swinging is a challenge, but it is what it is.
I have used Kruzer 4 times at this site, total about 5 hours. I have used 4tone about half, 2 tone most of the other half, and the general/AM only a little bit so far. I wasnt hearing as much information on these targets as I was with the disc. I will be experimenting more w

So I finally took the time to research a farm property close enough to work to go on lunch breaks. Property records said the house was built in 1806. I got the owners name, typed up how I like to operate, etc, and stopped in on Monday. He wasnt home. Stopped in yesterday in the rain. He was home. We chatted a bit. I showed him one of my button displays so he could see what I was interested

If I could ever get rid of all this snow....stop having 20 degree mornings, stop having so many things needing to be fixed around the house, I would get it another workout or two. Will meet up and let you try it out, Oz.
