Check out the condition of this merc

Hunted a spot I've previously hunted. Took the CTX this time. This spot on previous outings hard to hunt due to the deep tractor tire ruts. Since hay feeding has halted the ground is more level now,,with some shorter weeds trying to sprout.

Where this gent's big John Deere tractor has been over numerous times,,from around 7" this pops out--- read 12-40 on the meter.

The best condition coin I have ever dug.
Looks like it feel out of the mint right where I found it.

I took the clod with dime still in it,,I could see the rim and about 10% of the coin,,and had a hunch it was in great shape.
I told the land owner,,break the clod,,, if it is a 1916d-- would sell very well.

Turned out to be a 1936,, but it doesn't hurt to wish.
lol
Dug a couple wheats and a piece of horse tack to boot.

Only a 40 minute or so hunt. Really just to kill time.

Congrats. Mercury Dimes are one of my favorites. Always a treat to see one peeking out of the black dirt with the winged cap on the front and the bundle on the back. A lot of attractive coins in that era.

Just one more good target before I go.

I love to see mercs come out of the ground! They are all I seem to find in the silver category!

I don't know if this is connected to the why behind why this coin was in such shape,,,had my 83 year old mother in law out to this site.
She remembers it when she was younger,,it seems a smokehouse set in the area where the merc was dug.

Just gee wiz info.

And now because of her,,,I know where the big house set,,before it burned years ago.

Got to pick the old timers brains-- and get the Intel..at least around here.

Cheers

Perhaps you have your picture files mixed up. I'm seeing a very worn coin that would be lucky to grade VG.

I stated this coin was the best condition coin I'd ever dug,,,,I'm no professional coin grader. And no this is the correct pic.

Ok, sorry for the misunderstanding. Any Mercury dime is a fun find though. I'd guess that coin was dropped in the late 1950s or early 1960s.
