I've been down on the beach all week ...Biloxi Mississippi to be exact...well not much of a beach to begin with..Katrina tore this place up and half or MORE the houses along the coast don't seem to be rebuilt...were in a house on the water and on both sides of us you can see where houses use to be...

I've been doing a fair amount of testing in salt water against a few units..

Anyhow hows this for peaches and cream..LOL..Next door over..

right down to the hardpan.....Iron infestation and salt water..Yet do you see what I see in the pic in the middle poking out??

Yes I believe it is a piece of a Case Gin...about 1850s or so...

And here's another piece of an older bottle...champagne about 1900 to 1910 or so...See it??

Yep.

Tons of china and pottery too..

and no this site has yet to turn up anything old..True trash pit of epic proportions..

I'm sure there's a goodie hiding in there somewhere but besides an old brass key and a 1915 penny its not producing keepers lol...I have a bag full of copper and brass junk and a ton of aluminum...

Do have to say the Fors Relic slices through this with ease...even digging thin wire...out of all the 19Khz unit's I have balanced to salt the Relic seem's to still be the most sensitive and deepest to the small bits .

Thought I would share my testing grounds. for the week...no peaches or cream...LOL

I did see an old home site inland about a mile may hit it tonight or Tomorrow...If I can find the owner of the land..

Looks like a minefield, Keith. Don't be stickin' nothing through your shoes and into your feet!
Enjoy your vacation and Good Luck!!

Hey Keith do you think the relic handles the wet sand better than the racer or racer 2?
Perhaps somewhere along that shoreline, denser targets, like fishing weights, bullets, and other lead targets could have been seeded by storms. If lead can wash onto your site, then so can more desirable targets like silver coins and jewelry, and low/medium carat gold jewelry.

Detecting since Feb, 2010
E-trac with 18"x15" SEF, 13" Ultimate coil, Pro coil, Minelab 8" coil, 4.5"x7" SEF, Sunray target probe
CTX3030 with 17"x13" DD coil, 11" DD coil
Dang, that stuff looks not only not fun to dig in/sift thru but I'm sure the salt content doesn't help anything.

You'd think with all that old pottery/glass laying around that there'd have to be some goodies hiding in there someplace.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your vacation down there Keith and good luck on the old house site search.

Can't wait to get your full report upon return thumbs down
I feel one of the houses destroyed may had had booze in the home....thus what you are finding is not washed in just a product of the devastation...just thinking out loud but surely possible.....
Seemed to handle the wet sand and submerging about the same as the R1/R2 and CoRe..Best bet is the 5x10 coil ..It is the smoothest in the surf...Still wants to float though...maybe NEL will make a open design 5x10 for the Relic...

One thing that stuck out to me is the way it jumps on little stuff while balanced to salt..

It has the ability to see thin small low conductors better than any VLF I've used on wet sand..

Yeah that would be the thing to do look for lead concentrations for sure..But on that shore it was all barrier walls...LOL..

I was stuck in that ''''one cut '''' spot unless I went down to the public city beach...

And no luck finding the landowner for the old house site....

Did have some luck at the casino though ..LOL!!
