The narrows?
October 16, 2011 05:33AM
This is more of a question about a place to hunt, rather than an actual metal detector question. Does anyone here know what is meant my the narrows of a creek? I have heard several answers, from where all the branches converge, the shallowest spot (easy to cross), or literally the narrowest place of the creek, or river. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Ed.

Hi, Narrows of a river, stream, creek etc. is a narrow place on a river & stream (usually it's in reference to rivers) with BOTH ends of the narrow place being a lot wider and deeper ....Keep in mind it is not necessarily the narrowest spot on a river or stream. it usually always had wider deeper ends....Indians felt safer and preferred it this way so they couldn't be approached very easily on the ends by any would be enemies while they were crossing rivers & streams... Narrows of rivers & steams were usually a lot shallower with good footing and they were usually known by the Indians and early settlers as a great crossing spot....Some people also called them a ford.......JMO.......Best of luck.....JJ
