How did you manage to get so much power from such small, lightweight batteries, when those in most other powerful metal detectors weigh 100 to 150 g?

Postby FORUM XP » Mon Sep 28, 2009 1:29 pm
Despite the battery’s small size, the power of the coil is at least as great as the Gold Maxx Power, for instance.
It is difficult to explain in just a few lines as it involved a great deal of research.
We optimised the efficiency of various elements such as the coils and the amplification stages. There was also the choice of a high-capacity lithium battery and leading-edge electronic components that were more expensive and precise than those usually found in metal detectors.
These highly efficient circuits waste far less power: It's a little like the ordinary incandescent light bulbs used in the home which are very inefficient, actually losing 80% of their energy as heat; compared with that of LED lighting, which uses all its energy for light rather than heat!

What is the advantage of a “wireless detector”?

Postby FORUM XP » Mon Sep 28, 2009 2:00 pm
The disappearance of the traditional cable linking the coil to the control box (and the disappearance of the control box itself) has two immediate advantages: first, an obvious reduction in weight and bulk, no more problems with storage or folding up the stem, nor with broken or snagged cables in the woods… and second, a gain in signal acquisition quality, as the signals no longer need to be conveyed via a wire link but are digitised and analysed closer to the source by the ultra-miniature electronic circuit housed in the coil.

The coil, remote control and headphones communicate via radio waves – are they really reliable?

Postby FORUM XP » Mon Sep 28, 2009 1:52 pm
In all our comprehensive testing of DEUS, we did not come across any interference on the wireless radio link, even when close to Wi-Fi systems or mobile telephones.
Users familiar with the XP wireless headphones will find the same level of reliability in signal transmission, with no sound or hiss! The digital wireless link is flawless.
And to further improve the radio link’s reliability, DEUS is fitted with a double antenna system on the headphones and remote control. Just like the wireless links used for stage microphones, if one antenna is lacking any information the other instantly compensates.

How is DEUS “more powerful”?

Postby FORUM XP » Mon Sep 28, 2009 11:28 am
It would be misleading to talk about pure power, but DEUS can offer enhanced power as a result of adapting the detection parameters more closely to the particular ground characteristics, which makes it far more efficient.
So although the power of the wave field emitted by DEUS can be adjusted, it is important to realise that you will obtain better ground penetration by adjusting the detector’s frequency, reactivity speed and ground balance according to the actual environment you are detecting in.

Is DEUS completely safe with regard to the HF radio waves?

Postby FORUM XP » Mon Sep 28, 2009 11:13 am
DEUS complies with standards for user safety with regard to electromagnetic waves. The strength of the radio signals used is considerably weaker and on a much smaller scale than those emitted by mobile telephones (2,000 to 4,000 times weaker!), as well as being much less than those used by Wi-Fi systems.
Moreover, when the complete system is used, the audio headphones only act as a passive radio receiver, and do not emit any signals.

Doesn’t the battery in the coil cause interference when detecting?

Postby FORUM XP » Mon Sep 28, 2009 1:31 pm
No. As the battery is sealed, fixed and very small, it does not affect detection. In conventional metal detectors it is mainly the cable or connectors which, when they move, cause interference by sending static signals back to the circuit.
In DEUS, the signals are digitised at the coil terminals, so this also eliminates any static that cables or control box electronics might receive. Once the signal has been digitised in the head, it can no longer be affected by electromagnetic interference like conventional detectors.

Perhaps some EMI shielding tape is in order for wired coils.
