Something wrong with my goldbug 2?

Last night I ventured out in about 2°C with a fierce windchill.

Cabin fever had set in big time and I needed some fresh air, .... it was fresh enough you can say that!!

Anyway, couldn't get the goldbug 2 to groundbalance.
Actually couldn't get the treshold tone to deviate going up or down, no matter how I turned ground balance knob to extremes.

So ended up setting it at mean value and couldn't even register a piece of foil in the face of the coil.
Sens set at midway something like 5.

Quirk, needing calibration or plain old cold weather freaking out the goldbug 2??

Batt test gave a nice high tone, so I'm convinced the batteries had enough power.

Do you have a different coil to try, sounds like a problem I had with my g2 come to find out I had a bad coil?

Managed a drive to the dealer, we fixed up another coil. Hey presto, cured the problem!

Being my day off, buzzed off to my test patch, dug a few faint sounding targets amongst the surface trash.
A fishing sinker and a larger piece of scrap, happy as a pig in mud!!
