Saw an ad in my new issue of lost treasure. New waterproof compact gold machine. Interesting.

Heard rumors of a new water proof PI. Maybe to compete with the ATX ? Were there any particulars in the ad ( PI, VLF, etc. ? ).

I wish I could add a pic but oh well.

It says the first real compact mid-range gold detector is coming.
Then it lists it as waterproof, compact, rugged, no assembly, easy to use, finds small gold, proven MPS technology.
Says it folds to 16 inches.

Snatched a Pic off the web.

Things are getting interesting in the PI world!

And I was just about going to jump on a ATX. I just waiting to hear reports on the 8 inch coil. If minelab does hit with something I hope the coil selection stays compatable with the SD Gp Series as well as some water proof additions. That would be killer.
Re: New minelab

It will be based on the "F3 compact" platform - this has a completely new method of coil attachment and ML will no doubt do everything that they can to,prevent aftermarket suppliers from competing. If it is any good compared to the GPX 5000 it would kill those sales, so don't expect it to compete on depth or power.

Here's the F3 link

The market for gold nugget detectors in the US and Australia is probably cooling off due to the "relaxed" price of gold and the spreading realization - in the US at least - that what is left in the ground is either small, on somebody's claim or both. The real growth markets are in Africa, parts of Asia and South America.

This new detector, like Garrett's ATX are going to make their real money there.

Would they PLEASE make a fast E-Trac that is light and collapsable like a Deus. I don't know who is doing their research, but a light water resistant E-Trac like detector would just rock. I know, they have a 20lb perfectly balanced beast ;-)

I wonder how the newer AKA detectors are there, but those are just single freq.

I still say...give me a very stripped down GPX and I would be very happy. Give me one with the following settings:

1. Gain.
2. Preloaded "Normal" timing from the GPX.
3. Push button GB like the GPX.
4. And a frequency scan for clear EMI channel.
5. Iron discrimination setting.

Put an 11" DD on it as stock coil. Sell it for around $2,000 MSRP. I would have one as soon as I could find a dealer with one.

I talked to Don today from North GA Relics and he is one of the bigger Minelab dealers in the US. He said he knew as much about the new machine as the rest of us do...and I haven't known Don to lie at all.

"This compact waterproof detector ..."

Oh good, another waterproof detector to compete with the ATX. Wonder how it would do submerged in salt water? We'll see...

For those that never water hunted even a (heavy) Minelab will work as the water does wonders in making them easy to handle..

Personally especially for small gold Tesoro's are tough to beat in fresh water...

I'm with you Albert -

I think they tried with the ctx 3030 but failed the "weight" part of the test! lol

I'm still going to try one out though!

Here it is.

Rumours in Aus suggest price might be $3500.

This says alot about the Garrett ATX and how its regarded.

Same thing happened with the Garrett pro pin pointer.

I think garrett are onto something with the ATX.

Have not used one but with videos i have seen i personally
Would like the transmit signal made faster so your able to
Detect normal without waiting if that makes sense.

Check the atx in action in Australian Goldfields and checkout the iron stone
And minerals in the ground picked up by magnet.

As you can see with the video above in my last post with super hot
Iron infested ground its why the pulse induction gold machines were
Developed. We knew Gold was there but could not get to it.

A guy by the name of Allan H preached to many of us back in the
90's a pi was needed for the gold fields and we listened.

One last thing the majority of gold nuggets found in gold bearing ground
vic is No more than about 8 inches deep.

So the challenge with these new machines is to be able to detect a 1
Grammer deep.

Your right. Imagine how many more detectors would of been sold if they
Made different units with pre programmed settings like this one.

The mind boggles. Not everyone has $6000 for a new machine.

Instead of targeting the one market you could target a few and not

Lose sales to a vlf or competing pi's.
