BRAND NEW DEUS - 1ST HUNT!
September 01, 2014 06:38PM
Hey all - figured I'd add to the "Deus postings" since we don't have enough of them lately!!

Been a while since I've posted anything good - it's been a dry summer here and not much action other than the occasional beach/water hunt for me

but anyway - I sold my old Deus to DeathRay and immediately replaced it with a new one and took her out on her maiden voyage over the weekend to an old vacant farm house I've had permission to hunt for a while now but had to wait for the right conditions (farmer to cut the grass and some rain)!

Here's my "good" findings for a 4 hr hunt ;-)

I like the WW1 eagle coat button and complete 1840s/50s 1 & 3/8" running horse W.E.B Crotal Bell

worth mention is what seems to be 1850s/60s sterling silver girls ring (the tiny one) and the 1893 injun - there's also a burnt/crusty merc dime that I can't make the date out on ;-)

HH all

P.S.
There was an 1840s/50s cabin at this site before the current farm house that was built around 1900 ;-)

Hey Del

those are Model T Ford air valve covers... I have found several dozens of them over time.

I needed the "cash" from the older Deus to put towards the truck -- then I put the new Deus on a credit card

A nice selection of finds.

The burnt mercury dime might be recoverable.
Electrolysis, and then a gentle rubbing with a baking soda/water paste, might give you a date.
This does wonders with some extremely salt water corroded silver coins.

Detecting since Feb, 2010
E-trac with 18"x15" SEF, 13" Ultimate coil, Pro coil, Minelab 8" coil, 4.5"x7" SEF, Sunray target probe
CTX3030 with 17"x13" DD coil, 11" DD coil

I'm confused. Aren't you suppose to detect a new area first with a "conventional" detector, and then go over it with a Deus to see what the other detector missed? <G>
Just messing with you. Very nice finds! Imagine what else lurks there beneath the dirt. Keep us posted.

Did you try several different settings or programs? Did any particular settings group seem to work better in that "busy" place?
Thanks.
