This is everything I dug today.
Mixed history site.
Hunting for about 4 hours in the rain the whole, time.
Screw caps sound warbly vs coins.
There is a button in the pic, it was deep like garret propointer length deep plus 1.5"
Gotta hear the Nox on deep undisturbed target.
Button is real thin with design I have never seen before, I hit with shovel too.
Used park 2 sens 23 speed 6, 0 iron bias.
I like this detector.
Almost all of these coins detected on edge.
Did take a shot at a few nickel signals, did mange to find just one.
Tab and ring on edge in the ground gave a rock solid 13 ID.

Little closer look at the button and silver.
Button has design only on edges loop missing.

I was wondering if you can help. I am beginning to think maybe I have a bad coil. Can you run the nail cross test and down the barrel test with a penny or dime and compare them to my video to see if you get the same results?

Which video specifically are you referring to?
How does your detector air test??
On a nickel.

The cross nail test I did or the down the barrel. It air test fine on a nicel(at least 10 inches).

About 6" deep on edge.
Funny thing.
A person got stuck in this gent's yard couple, days ago.
If the tires would have been moved over about a foot, the half might have either got buried more or actually could have been exhumed.
This site, dirt is more worm dirt not the reddish horrible stuff I usually hunt in. Maybe being buried on edge for a long time, helped preserve it somewhat.
Not a metallurgist.

Very nice hunt and report. You have me intrigued.... Would you please elaborate or describe what you are hearing on deep targets? Thanks!

Gotta hear the Nox on deep undisturbed target.

Very good question. Was waiting to see who would actually asked.

First this video was posted by another member here. I don't think it belongs to the member who posted though.
Watch this first.
[m.youtube.com]

Now what I'm about to say Imsure don't mean to criticize or demean the video above.

Btw I watched this video late last night or early this morning-can't remember.
Anyway if I would have based my dig/no dig decision on what I saw and heard on the deep button- I would have walked--- based on video.

So what did I see and hear?
Tone had good volume, but was a little dodgy sounding. I actually detected this button with high tone and 23 in the meter. Remember little edgy sounding (iron can be)
Pivoting 90'a degrees and sweeping I get better signal (same volume) but meter read 17.
I turned and compared I think 4 times.
Went to AM, and when swept I get a little roll on the edge of signal, one sweep a little better vs the other direction(a little worse).

So next went to single freq 10khz for curiosity, swept and get 17 the same directional sweep Imgot above, but pivoting meter went to low 20s. Didn't have as much drum roll.
Signal was very consistent yet dodgy sounding a little bit worse one way sweeping than the other.

So I duf, after I Got to 8" deep, I really started to use care with shovel and pinpointer to see how deep this target was. I got worried at one point thinking maybe it was a piece of buried relic iron off of a stove or some thing,

Now, I airtested the button. It reads 17 spot on. So seems in one direction the Equinox was nailing the ID. I cannot vouch for orientation of button though.

After seeing and hearing what I did, one thing came to mind. The Etrac thunk.
So, a question here.
Could what the Equinox was doing with the drum roll(in AM) be sorta equated to the thunk on Etrac on fringe depth detectable (based on modes/settings)?

Btw, this is the first nonferrous target I have recovered that ID more than 3 points in the meter vs airtest value. Granted this was only in one sweeping direction, but this is the first I have witnessed. I did 't dig a hole diameter wise as big or bigger than coil, but in the hole Imdod 't see or hear any ferrous with pinpointer use.

I watched the video and he really needs to have a mic on the audio. I had a hard time hearing what you wanted me to "hear." The gentleman did say that coin targets are pretty consistent when checking at a different angle. I like his method of checking to see if its iron utilizing 10khz. Very interesting video. Thanks for posting.

I will have to watch the video. Interesting to check in 10 kHz as an "iron check;" not sure why that, specifically, would be the frequency chosen, but interesting.

Still would like to hear you more describe the "drum roll" sound, tnss. Not sure I've heard anything I'd describe that way, yet...

Steve this is my description, others here may describe differently- the sound.
Drum roll can be heard sometimes using factory disc, but AM, pushing horseshoe button. This is when it starts really coming in. Ferrous can cause (on edge of falses), but don't dismiss all targets just because ((this noise )) is present on the front and back of nonferrous tones. You do you may lose. Meter is valuable asset on Equinox in my opinion. When used in conjunction with what is heard, when pivoting around target listening and watching. User just has to connect the dots.

I may have missed it but I haven't seen anyone using the multi bluetooth ability to mic the 'nox for a video. I would think that would be amazing for the audio fidelity. It would cut wind roar, too. you would have to narrate in post though, right? Still...
