Equinox, what do you guys think

It may be a bit premature at this point but do you think it's gonna render all other detectors obsolete like they said it would

You know I have all but quit reading posts on it. The chaos is just too much to filter through. Same posts on all the forums or people reporting or referencing posts on other forums. Tests on targets. People complaining tests were done wrong. It's just sickening to me now. As Charlie Brown would say...."UGHHHHH". The answer to your question... I will say No. I don't have one. I will probably get one for salt water eventually. When the waiting lists die down and accessories become available. If I was a dirt hunter here in PA I would probably go Kruzer. Why? Because I had the Impact and really like it except for the weight. I haven't seen anything that makes me think the NOX will out hunt it. Running over a buried coin and turning the settings until your hear it just isn't practical to me. Yeah I'm just sick of it.

Same here Nox was a train wreck from day one, Minelab should back up their claims or stfu.

Need to see someone with camera do some coin on edge tests, comparing Deus, Nokta Impact, Etrac or CTX and Equinox 800. All stock coils.
I haven't done, but have a hunch.
Need to see 4 way sweeps too. Sweep in line with coin on edge and across for comparisons.
Clad dime, nickel and quarter.

I’m getting the nox 800 tomorrow. What depths would you like to see? I have a deus and Etrac.

Start at 4" and then progress deeper depending on what happens.

Gannon I'm looking forward to your report because I know you have similar dirt to mine. I am betting it ain't gonna cut it in this red clay dirt.

Ill try my best. My filming is decent.. my knowledge of the detector is obviously zero.

If any of you have time give me a few suggestions on what settings to use.

I’ve got a few very clean areas I can test in, one bring a school I’ve beat to death. This old baseball field is a redclay sandy mix. Only the Etrac so far has pulled 4 silvers from.

If your soil is super high mineralized start test at 2" deep then and progress down.

Use detect modes field 2 and park 2.
Play with speed, 6 might be good.
Play with iron bias .
Zero,setting might be good.
Do aN auto GB when you change modes. And noise cancel.
Stick with multi freq use on Equinox.
For consistently sake put all in 50 tones.
Use factory disc in detect modes I mention above.
I'm in no hurry.
You'll need some time for getting acquainted with unit.

You need to figure a way to do, and disturb as little a soil as possible.
Your soil may not allow- too hard.
Like glue coin to ruler and drive down in ground.
I have seen this done some where and videod.
Or use some device and create a slit. So ruler will go down in there so measurement can be gotten.

What's clad. I only dig seated, bust, flowing hair and Spanish and an occasional colonial Barber. Yuk.

At this point I dont think its going to exceed my initial beliefs now. Its light.... fast.... WILL equal or exceed what we now use in the water... it has a TID..but its a bit to narrow and jumpy for dirt digging. Its got greater potential as a beach machine.. not as many to compete with. I like the single freq for dry sand. So in a way it may supersede them.... down side the price will climb for accessories. ... which we dont have and NEED to really water hunt. To many machines as a dirt machine it may wel be just a $900machine. If the intent is to do very limited repairs after warranty is out....it will hurt resales and dirt hunters. As a water hunter it will pay for itself.

WTF, is it really that complicated?

Looks like I’m sticking with my Tom-tuned CZ-3D.

Not a chance. One thing it did do is make everyone think of the words obsolete other detectors when thinking of the equinox. Great marketing technique.

The jumping out of a plane has been done so many times before and seemed Childish to me.
The wait is BS they have had Months to figure it out.
And now machines are dropping just last night GIG had his machine start going erratic for no reason and just stops and starts again never mind other issues.
And no from what I seen it isn't a CTX killer at all so people can pretend it is so they feel better but it isn't. And I think it only kills the DEUS in salt water otherwise it is a good run for the money.
But it is a decent machine for the price of the 600 model that is for sure.

Other than being waterproof does it out perform the ETrac? I would assume it is quicker in the iron. But as far as depth and target ID I am hearing not so good reporting. One thing is for sure.... if it has a hard time getting in the ring to duke it out with a 12 year old detector design then it is a flop and way way over hyped. And I agree with G Rebs.....I am not into the complicated thing. Making adjustments to manipulate a detector to hit a stand alone coin? Nah! I Never have swung one, but I logged plenty of hours with the Deus and I didn't have to do that.

Equinox may have killed off CTX being used for salt water/beach hunting.
At least reduced its use quite a bit.

I sure wouldn't want to lug that load around knowing what I know about the Nox on a beach or in saltwater.

On nickels, yes. High conductors, no.

If it’s good on nickels, it’ll be good on gold jewelry. Just sayin’...

Major SNAFU is machines and accessories. ....was this intentional or did someone screw the pooch? Ive got to believe if it was intentional....so did they have doubts? ML normally dont do anything unintended.
