Maybe a new way to run wireless with your existing corded headphones

It looks to me all you would need is a 1/4 male to 1/4 female adapter to make it work. The only issue may be battery life. But it would have to last longer on a detector?

It looks interesting but the 2 hour battery life would be a bummer .

I found a review on youtube where he says it lasts 6+ hours playing the guitar. But yes if it last 2 hours then it won't work.

Hope you are able to get it and give us a report . Maybe you and Bill could even do a video of results if it works out....

I started a thread on a UK forum to see if anyone had any opinion, or had tried it.
I would assume that it must have very low latency (delay time) or else it would be useless for guitar work. And the range it achieves looks promising. If it was boasting 100's of metres, it would definitely interfere with the detector operation.

One problem is the RX output may not be up to driving headphones directly, or not very loudly, anyway.

I did find the user manual online in .pdf format, rather than the manufacturers' .rar version, but sadly it gives no technical info at all.

It's a shame its not cheaper, it would be a good project to hack - bigger capacity batteries, maybe integrate the TX into the detector.

sounds like this could be a possible 'fix' for the Makro Racer, eh....

as to Latency, I read that that the proprietary setup that Minelab uses has a latency < 10ms (they 'own' both ends). that's the ticket! any bluetooth solution with latency, at best in the 30 ms range
simply won't cut it...IMHO... I would like to try the Kleer technology at some point. It apparently has a latency of about 25ms and some Etrac users say it works but then again the Etrac is used (generally) pretty slowly. I think the very fast sweep machines could still have a problem...

In what way? You mean have it plug in in place of the dongle that Makro use?
That's tricky, because the interface between the dongle and the rest of the detector is unknown.

yes, a complete re-design....and licensing the tech but I believe something like this would work, i.e. they need to control both ends...

I don't think they can just tweak their current design...

Regarding latency, the tech specs for the T2 / F75 say it's 78 msec (from memory), so I guess adding 50 ms is probably going to be a tolerable upper limit.
Arizona Microchip make some digital audio transmission chips that use Kleer, they quote delays from 45 ms up to 125 ms, depending on how you set them up to operate.

I've seen lower latency figures., such as here:
[soyotech.en.made-in-china.com]

and here, 55 or 20 ms:

I used to use a wireless set of ear buds I got at radio shack that had a dongle you plugged in to the detector battery life was about 5 to 6 hours Charged in about two and on my Sov GT never noticed any latency - I pinpointed by sound and was always pretty darn right on. Not sure if the where Bluetooth or something else.

Also I watch movies and youtube with LG Bluetooth earbuds and lips are always in sync. So how fast does it really have to be?

Smile its a good for you!

Assuming you sweep at 80cm per second, then 100 ms = 8 cm of coil movement; 50 ms = 4 cm; 78 ms = 6.2 cm.

Translation:
Assuming you sweep at 30 inches per sec, 100 ms = 3 inches; 50 ms = 1.5 inch; 78 ms = 2 1/3 inch.

I'm guessing that when things start to be 'off' by 3 inches, you may notice it, or find it takes some getting used to, anyway.

And, regarding TV lip-synch, I know some TV's can be set up to delay the picture by a user-adjustable amount to match laggy headphone links, is there anything like that with your set?

This pair is not Bluetooth. It's 2.4ghz which is what we need.

I'll be getting a set soon. Then I'll report back. I might even let Bill try them! LOL This is really the only way to see if they work.

That is an Auvio 33-234 bud set. They are 2.4 ghz and work with no lag just like the 33-283's

I have used similar setup with the kleer tech and it worked good on the E-Trac. Hate the CTX 3030 wireless module as it distorts the tones way to much for me.Sold my module the second week I owned it.
