Watch out if Financing a Detector from Kellyco

They are really sticking it to people. I hope people don't fall for this scam and really look into this.

First off it's a lease, which means you can pay it off early, but you still need to pay the full price of the detector and financing. (they state they will give you a slight discount if you pay it off early, but don't disclose what it will be).

So if you spend $2800 to lease/buy a detector you will pay $158 a month for 39 months. Total cost to you is $6,162.

Using Bankrate.com calculator this $2800 detector, with you paying the $158 a month for 39 months is equal to using a credit card with 56% interest !!!!!!!

It's nice for kellyco to offer people options, but I hope some people who aren't smart don't fall for it.

Kellyco preys off of people's ignorance and do it very well.

And yet they do some things well. Their repair department gets good customer feedback. They are now Minelab's only US repair service - ML Chicago outsourced it to them.

Kind of hard to understand why they do lowlife crud like sell LRL's and rip,off the poor and ignorant this way. Have they no souls?

EDIT - since someone objected to my use of the word "souls", please delete it and replace it with "business ethics"

My cousin, Ralph Tanner of Tanner's Metal Detectors of Lakeland, Florida, who passed away in 2007, could tell you and myself could tell you, sickening stories of that so called dealer in central Florida...

They have the market on certain items. Their repair center did a great job on my Excal. People need to know the fine print before they sign anything.

Stupid people make stupid decision - if stupid people didn't exist there wouldn't be any PayDay Loan offices, overcrowded prisons, or Democrat voter base. These people serve a purpose, if only as a warning for everyone else.

JA - there are a lot of less well educated and gullible people out there. My experience of 68 years suggests that many of them don't bother to vote and of those that do - the low information types are pretty evenly split between the political parties.

I didn't start a political theme. I wanted to point out that that companies that willingly lead low information customers into bad decisions are the sort of companies that I don't wish to do business with.

Suggest respectfully that politics be taken up in forums that are focus on that.

That's not what I come here for and I suspect that others agree.

With respect.

P.S. Shoveler. I am not looking for a mother when I purchase. I am looking for a seller who has basic business ethics and respects their customers. I have been a Purchasing and Contracting professional for about 40 years and have found that dealing with suppliers who respect their customers is always a good idea.

JA, love that you threw that dig on the dems in there,....funny, I thought.

I have never purchased from the big K....have a few local ma and pa detector shops that do not sell scam units...I'll trade my money with them.

lytle...it's interesting how you always feel everyone should refrain from participating in a non detecting themed post AFTER you have made YOUR statement. By calling Kellyco soul less were you trying to move the thread toward a religious vein versus a political one ? smiling smiley

What is in reality more revealing is that in the simple statement----- "P.S. Shoveler. I am not looking for a mother when I purchase. I am looking for a seller who has basic business ethics and respects their customers. I have been a Purchasing and Contracting professional for about 40 years and have found that dealing with suppliers who respect their customers is always a good idea."---you used the word "I" four times

Very true.thumbs down
Not trying to moralize here, but I personally go back and forth on whether to laugh at the morons or pity them + try to protect them. I go with the former 100% of the time when the stupidity displayed is self-inflicted.

A fool and their money are soon parted.

In this case, they are doubly fools. What intelligent person would finance what is, for all intent and purposes, a hobby "toy".
And what idiot would not spend 30 seconds with a calculator, to determine how much money the financing will cost them?

As the romans used to say, "Caveat Emptor".

Left wing....right wing...it doesn't matter. They are both part of the same bird.

I'm not sure why somebody would finance a metal detector either. I am one of those weird people that doesn't like being in debt and owing somebody. When I got married, I paid cash for our first starter house...no loan, no debt. It has served its purpose for sure; and it has been past time for us to move to a bigger/better home. Well that doesn't come cheap and it is gonna weigh on me to have to go through a lending company to borrow money for a house.
