What is the difference between the CZ20 & CZ21?

Thanks,

1st and foremost = "durability and toughness"

2nd = the pinpoint button went from the rubber push IN and hold to pinpoint type to an aluminum "tap the button" to pinpoint and then tap again to stop pinpointing type button

next is where they're made and under whom/the quality of components

I've owned BOTH

if I had my choice = I'd take the OLD skool CZ20 with white lower rod and white coil with black coil cover all day over a CZ21 any day of the week

can't beat em

I had one for 18 yrs and beat the xxxx out of it time and time again and I couldn't kill it no matter what I did!

I think the big difference is the pinpoint button. CZ20 had a rubber covered button that could leak over continued use (rubber would crack).

There might be other changes, somebody with more knowledge will chime in.

You actually don't need a "pinpoint" button on a CZ20/21 (or any machine for that matter)

therefore

again = the CZ20 IS the better choice if you're looking for durability and toughness/longevity out of one VS the other

the newer 21's are weaker/thinner skinned, cheaper materials used in build/construction and so on

but

to each his own!

Look for the ones with the METAL cuff as well. Must be something more....... because they require you to convert one when repairs are needed..... which is about $400.

I've had two CZ20s. Purchased them both used, never had an issue with them. Like MRH mentioned, they are tanks. I've not owned the newer 21 model, so I cannot give an opinion, but I've heard they aren't as hot. That being said, I don't think you would go wrong with either detector.
