Need help IDing this possible CW era UFO

Had a great hunt with Stuart(Search and Recovery) and WayneNC yesterday. While we all found the usual goodies, I found this item that appeared to be a very small lead tire weight when it first came out of the ground. I have never seen anything like it, hopefully someone here knows and can share some information on it. I have a percussion cap and small rivet in the pic for size reference.
