Link was deleted.

Btw, I didn't agree with it either.

Basically one side.

A badly written article on accusations and speculation is more like it.

I can tell you that after swinging a 7lb detector for 10 and 12 hours a day for 3 days, the last thing on anybody's mind is hunting at night. I started going when I was in my 20s and in good shape, and after a day of hunting, all you want is a hot shower and small bite to eat and BED. The first morning you wake up early with wide eye anticipation and everybody is at the truck early ready to go. The ride to the hunt site is full of energy and stories of past finds and strategy for this hunt . By day 2, you stay in bed a little longer and drag yourself to the truck, and everybody is straggling. The ride to the hunt site is quieter. By morning day 3, you are calling your ride to see if they wouldn't mind if you sleep in an extra 30 mins; IF they aren't already calling you to ask the same thing. The ride to hunt site is mouse quiet as everybody riding is catching a last minute nap. The nights of DIV weekend are the best sleep I have all year due to sheer exhaustion. Lol

I can also tell you that the picture taker in that article was breaking the law when they took the picture of the hunters. All the DIV properties are accessable only by private drives/roads and are posted to high heaven with signs and gates. In order to get to one of the fields, they had to be trespassing, driving through gates and past posted signs.

I just left DIV 33 and the holes in the picture look like where hogs were rooting to me but I'm not sure there are hogs up there. Im from Louisiana and hogs can do serious damage to a field in one night.

I bet he's fun at parties.

That bottom picture is clearly not man made. Look at the scale of the tiny holes vs the blades of grass. Looks like a skunk digging for grubs to me. Sadly, the idiots from diggers are who we are to many. Alot of relic hunters know more about the artifacts and their provenance than archies.

What a joke of an article
Re: Article connected to DIV

The man obviously has his own agenda, is writing on his own blog, and pushing his own opinion(s). It was not honest of him to offer photographs of dubious origin and claim it shows damage caused by relic hunters. The dangerous part is not the folks who read his blog and already share his opinion of relic hunting and relic hunters. The sad part is that someone who doesn't have a clue about what we do, how we do it, and why we do it might accept what this man thinks as the truth.
We can do more to combat that negative thought toward us in our interactions with those who have already given us permission and those whom we are yet to approach for permission. And by how we conduct ourselves in front of the viewing public.
We could waste our time replying to this man and trying to convince him that we have a right to our opinion(s) as much as he does, but it's not going to change his mind.

I did find a list of blog sites and other resources on one of his pages, that ought to be helpful to me in my research. Maybe we should tell him that his web site actually helps us forward our agenda of greater access for saving historical artifacts before they are paved over or rot in the dirt.

The more people that visit his site, the more his site ranking rises and comes up in closer to the top in internet search results. It is best to leave these people alone.
I would delete the link to prevent even more views.

I agree 100% MIKE!~ I didn't click on the link. ALSO, Daniel TN is SPOT ON WITH HIS DESCRIPTION of the 3 days weekend. We hunt and get out there early morning, but by dark (and even before), we would leave, try to clean relics, then eat, and GO TO BED. PERIOD> No night hunting. And no illegal hunting. We were freaking exhausted.............

yes and no...if you're talking hundreds of thousands or perhaps tens of thousands of hits, yes, I suppose. But 10s or maybe a couple hundred hits? No, I don't think so.
It depends far more on the keywords in the search string and what keywords the individual has embedded in his web page (to match search criteria).

I would like to clarify that this was not directed at Newayne and is meant toward the writer of the article. When I replied I replied directly to Wayne and not the original post. My bad.
What a putz. You should not generalize opinions as facts.( And just because I like or dislike something I don't try to force you to think and feel as I do). That's typically how socialist/ dictators act.
