F-19/G2+ and NEL Sharpshooter

Been some talk about the Sharpshooter coil.-----How many of you guys have been using the F-19/G2+ Sharpshooter combo?------I have & what a SWEET combo that is---excellent separation, getting close to comparable depth of the 11" & quiet running (although these two detectors are flat out quiet running anyhow)--just great overall performance.----The Sharpshooter is so tough you can use it without a coil cover also----and----you put that coil (without a coil cover) on a F-19 & you got one EXCELLENT ergonomic detector.-----That's one combo that's staying in my small arsenal of detectors.-----Great for us old guys (like me)---you "yung 'uns" would like it to!thumbs downsmiling smiley---------------Del

Hi Del, I bought a NEL sharpshooter for my 1st Texas 7.8 kHz units like the F5/8500/LRP/ETPro etc but haven't had a chance to use it yet. Good to hear that it performs good on the G2+

I hear the stock 10x5 on the F19 is hard to beat.
Are you getting better depth with the Nel?

Hi guys------Well I can't say I'm getting BETTER depth than with the stock 5X10 as I've never done an actual "heads to heads" test--so, in honesty, I can't say "yay or nay".------But---having owned & used both those coils on these detectors on hunts---I feel (as to depth) the NEL Sharpshooter is right in the ball park with the 5X10 stock.------Here's the kicker though----the coil ear mounts.-------The coil "ears" on the 5X10 stock are more to the back of the coil where-as the ears on the Sharpshooter are in the center of the coil.-----To me, that is a MUCH better situation right there!-----As to coil weights & according to my accurate postal scales----the 5X10 stock weighs 16 oz. without coil cover--17 1/2 oz. with coil cover----the Sharpshooter weighs 13.4 oz. without coil cover--15 oz. with coil cover.------Over all, I think it's hard to find anything bad to say about this setup---as in--"what's not to like"!--------I guess a guy could say---well, the Sharpshooter isn't a solid coil like the 5X10 stock---sticks will be a problem in some situations-----well---put a solid coil cover on the Sharpshooter (that) problem solved!smiling smiley-----------------Del

I have used the Sharpshooter coil on my 'original' T2 for a couple of years and it very rarely comes off the detector,i dont think a great amount of depth is loss if at all,but it is really sharp on small items, pinpoints well, great target separation and all though its a small thing but does make a massive difference is the rod mounting position bang in the middle, the other NEL coils i have are the BIG Nel and the NEL Storm.

The worst coil i have for the T2 has been the Mars Tiger coil,as mentioned in another post had trouble GB the coil,so its basically brand new gathering dust in the cupboard.

I have the Nel Sharpshooter on my F75 and it very rarely comes off. Something about that coil in iron on the F75. Keith talks about it on a T2 classic and I think I am getting about the same performance on an F75.

I did a bench test on some higher frequency machines and their 5x10/6x10 coils and they are all pretty close...
I don't have any of those units right now to see how the NEL sharpshooter would compare...

Del, I only use the 5x10 on my G2+ but what you're saying has me intrigued.....ligher weight coil with better balance....
maybe that would translate into more detecting time...so, was the changeover from std 5x10 to Nel really that noticable?

what do they cost?

thanks for bringing this up!

Noticeable enough that I got rid of our two 5X10 FT camo coils that came with our camo F-19's & replaced them with the Sharpshooters for my wife & I.------I paid $115 delivered for the Sharpshooters.-----We use the Sharpshooter & Snake coils on our F-19's and the 11" bi-axial stock coil & 13" Ultimate coils on our G2+s.------How do ya beat that?----Ya can't---can't beat that with a stick---terrific set up they are!thumbs down--------------Del

I've been a NEL Sharpshooter search coil fan for years. I use them on most all of my detectors and for good reason, they work extremely well.

I'm going to have to try one of those Nel's you're talking about on this new F19 I just picked up from Bryan here on the forum

I like the F19's so much that I'm on my 3rd one since release now!

Love the 13" ultimates on them too/a must have thumbs down

I completely agree with you Wayne.----That F-19 (and G2+) are a couple of detectors that I absolutely have "warm & fuzzy feelings about"!smiling smiley-----Coupled with the before mentioned coils of course.thumbs down-----We have done so well with them on our hunts.------If I could have only them & the Etrac (which I do)---I feel I'm set for the rest of my detecting career with whatever time left the Good Lord gives me.---------------Del

Hey Del if ya get a chance Check out the T2-C.

eerily like the F19 but more umph...just as quiet but the freq allows more push and less trouble in tin..

I wanted a Juiced up F19 ..and this Seems like that in alot of ways ..

I had NEL Sharp Shooters for my F75 and Vaquero. If I had to pick one NEL to use it's that one. Love those coils. Perfect weight, size and performance. They hit a home run with that coil.
