Great finds. However, your comment about a "good" detector needs clarification.

Eons ago I owned the Troy Shadow X5 and the original Explorer. I loved both. I once compared them side by side while relic hunting. I got a real good signal on the X5 with obvious iron around it. The Explorer couldn't get any type of non ferrous indication at all, no matter what the settings. The target was a CW era button back. I had the same results 3 times while relic hunting.

No one can say the Explorer was a bad detector. Quite the contrary. It's prowess in modern trash laden parks is legendary and was my first choice for silver.

You just never know.

I think any good or great detector is called that by the user that knows the ins and outs of the machine....does that make sense?
