Detector sales

Seems like there are more & more (good) used detectors showing up in the F/S classifieds.-----I know this subject has been "touched on" before but I find it interesting.----Do you think the reason is it's just because of the time of year--with much of the country going in a deep freeze.-----Or does much of it have to do with this new Sheriff (Equinox) that's coming to town?----Whattcha think?smiling smiley-----I must be getting old (I KNOW I'm getting old)winking smiley-----but I'm just finding myself increasingly being content with the detectors I know well & am so comfortable with--ones that have produced well for me/are so effective.---In other words, I'm really happy with what I already have---that's gotta be another sign of old age I guess.winking smiley-----I do know one thing & that's the fact that my "guinea pig" days are long past!-----I (may) try this E800 at some point but not till I'm convinced it would be a benefit over the combos I already have.--------I'm rambling!------Merry Christmas everyone!---------------Del

Pretty certain its because folks have fallen for the sales hype from back in September,i am not knocking the machine/brand or anything like that and hope its a massive winner for them, but as its a buyers market at the moment as alot of folks are off loading other brands,it could well be some advantage to buy a specialised niche market detector at a very advantageous price.

Always looking out for machines that folks have bought and basically brand new and taken a massive hit on the price as a new machine hits the market, that is when i seriously take a look at buying bargains.

I'm kind of opposite from normal when it comes to detectors and material items. For one, I don't like to physically go shopping to stores, buy on line, or sell on line. I haven't purchased a detector in years. I use what I have till it falls apart, can't be fixed or cost too much to repair...but I don't buy cheap built items....can't afford to.

So I am mostly content with what I have decided to buy....thought goes into my purchases.....My dad always said "When in doubt, do without", has made me walk away from many buys.

I'm too old to believe in all the hype....seen a lot of BS fly by over the years. Actually it's easy to distinguish the BS from the real.....most is BS or puffed up from the actual...it's just advertising as usual.

My up bringing was from parents who lived through the depression....they didn't waste much or buy unnecessarily. They saved what money they could for a rainy day. This rubs off on a fellow. My wife and daughter, on the other hand, like to shop and love to see Fedex pull into the driveway....drives me nuts....that's a put, not a drive, I have been told.

At Max, at pro sales I figure.
Did you hear the skid marks??

Those thinking of buying Deus ??

Did you hear the skid marks?

Those wanting a new beach detector.

Did you hear the skid marks?

Lots and lots of skid marks!!!

Why.
Price, weight and the supposed performance of Equinox.

Game changer for sure.

Multi freq and single freq all rolled into one.

The older folks, women, children all may have fun with one of the light weight detectors.

Skid marks even being made by those who WERE contemplating CTX and Etrac too.

Smaller and lighter works in folks minds.

Look at cell phones and other gadgets.

Humans are trendy folks.

Don't want to be stuck I with ththe old, heavier, and perhaps inferior performing whatevers.

Minelab is in the process of dealing a very powerful blow to the entire detector market.

A real BIG mark.

If folks thought the Garrett At pro or At series were big sellers in the USA, better hold on, cause you ain't seen nothing yet.

Yes the new sheriff will arrive.

I wished we could have the sales numbers of both models of the Equinox units during the first year just inside the USA.
Likely jaw dropping !!

I am sure we will see some other model unit pricing be changed (lowered).

I'm not a dealer but I can sell a few to locals and make some extra income. Got a mint T2 Classic with Gray Ghost Headphones for 299.

There was a tremendous amount of AT Pro's out there. Garrett with the release of the MAX has made every owner think about upgrading. Combine that with the release of the new Equinox from Minelab which has everyone dumping their heavy multifrequency units that made their arms thump. Plus this time of year people look for a few extra bucks to spend on holiday gifts. Nothing like unloading that backup detector that just collected dust. In the end it means great deals out there if you don't want the latest and greatest. I just sold my backup XS-2A Sovereign myself. One third of the NOX is now in PayPal. I can't bring myself to unload the Sovereign GT or Impact though. They just are too good.

There's always, with almost any product, the "new girl in the cathouse" effect. It leaves the other girls reading books in the corner. But before long the new girl is also reading in the corner and the best of the others are busy, and at full price, again.

You've seen it before, you'll see it again. (well, maybe YOU didn't see it in a cathouse....eye rolling smiley).

Right now the EQ is the new girl - slim, trim and attractive to a fault.

Patience grasshopper.

I figure I should be able to pick up a good used Equinox a couple months after release for a couple hundred off so I can wait. I figure the beach hunters will be offloading then and going back to their ctxs, excals etc cause the weight of the EQ is not enough to handle water conditions. The Gold prospectors will offload them because it's still not as good as their gold monsters and gold bugs etc. The deep silver park hunters will be flocking back to their etrac and ctxs because the ID at depth isn't as good. Will be a good time for getting a EQ for cheap.lol

Part of hobby (trying them all)...wonder how much I spent just on shipping....???

I'm thinking of unloading my Racer 2. Not because of the Nox. Because I'm more comfortable with the Relic. And I could really use the extra money to keep my family afloat. Things are always too tight this time of year. So if anyone is looking for a good Racer 2, PM me.

I enjoy trying machines if they pique my interest. Although I do beach hunt, and do a bit of park hunting, my main detecting passion (to a fault) is relic hunting old ghosts towns, stage stops, Spanish era sites, and other similarly aged sites. You just can't beat the history, variety of finds, and these sites typically produce the oldest possible coins to be found in the west.

That said, some of these are pretty difficult sites - the most iron ridden sites you can imagine, trashy beyond belief and many due to their proximity to silver and gold bearing grounds are exceedingly mineralized. Though for any detector, so any time a new machine can afford a new advantage to detect these sites, I like to try it. Simultaneous multi frequency machines are better at handling ground minerals but are typically heavy with poor ergonomics, and iron handling isn't usually on par with the best VLF relic units, but the Equinox just might afford the best of two worlds, and rather then read how it works for others I'd like to test it for myself at my difficult sites, as that's really the only way I'll ever know it's true capabilities in my dirt.

Minelabs said the Equinox would obsolete all single frequency detectors.
Everyone is taking them at their word and selling..
