used detector values/prices - why not a "blue book" for detectors?

Just putting it out there, that to my knowledge, no one is serving the detecting community with current pricing on used metal detectors.

It would be nice if somebody - individual, established forum, dealer, dealer association - would provide a listing of used detector prices based on sales and/or trade in data.

Not that it would be easy to gather data from sales between individuals, dealers to individuals, and trade-ins to dealers, but a site offering such information ought to create a lot of site traffic. They could host online sales themselves, in competition with the existing
"classifieds" type sites that only broker deals but do not provide sales data.

I search sold listing on ebay. Average them out and deduct fees/shipping when calculating trade value.

I list would be hard to manually manage with price fluctuation. One could develop a script to automatically allocate and compute this data and have a price track/trend graph of sorts but thats a lot of work

One reason is they don't have speedometers....as far as E-bay..poor way to judge ...good sellers market...poor buyers market...

I agree here.

Good luck doing too.
With all the things First Texas has done as of late and the Equinox on the horizon- be hard to keep up with big time.

Oh, and being we are going to have a blue book, does this also mean detectors will be assessed loan value at the banks, if someone wants to finance?

Just think. Equinox could make your blue book 'obsolete'.

It would be hard to place on "average" price on detectors because most dealers and the average Joe sells at different prices.

I started at 50% of new and then plus or minus based on condition. That's just me!

Time of year has a big influence on used price, like now , middle of January, the used market is pretty bad.

Come this spring the market will rebound
