First Texas has a couple of advantages here.

First of all, their repair/return rate is pretty low.

Secondly, they don’t consider spares/repairs as a profit center, just a (minor) cost center.

Are they perfect? Of course not. They have no elaborate voice response system - no press 1 for English, press 2 for Spanish, press 3 for new orders, press 4 for customer service.

Just a nice person on the phone who wants to “direct your call”. Very nice, but without the evil “computer customer management system” - you might get a voicemail from the extension you are forwarded to - and you may or may not get a timely call back. Interestingly enough, although they are in El Paso and a fair percentage of their employees speak Spanish - you don’t have to “press 1 for English”

Meanwhile, I suggest that customer service inquiries are best made by email and if you phone with a service issue, ask for Felix. There are others, but happily, with the relatively low volume of repairs they have to deal with, you can usually get Felix.

Oddly my FTP service experiences have never been stellar. I've had to send them back items they claimed they "repaired" more than once, on my dime and they were detectors that were still in warranty.

Pretty sure that FTP is not exempt from a warranty reserve, a fund that is set aside from each sale for warranty work. With as many machines as they sell, I don't doubt they have a surplus reserve, which gives them more latitude to repair items out of warranty.

In my experience First Texas repair service, under warranty or not, is 2nd to none. Great personal attention, fast service and no run around. Good folks.
