Is IP-54 rain proof?

I was investigation the IP-54 rating and was wondering if "Protected from water spray from any direction" is good enough for detecting in the rain.

The GM24K is IP-54 rated. But I heard a rumor that a waterproof version is coming out in April. Trying to decide if I want to wait for the IP-68 version or just go ahead with the IP-54 version. I just need some rain protection, have no plans to fully submerge.

???

Yes.

Ingress Protection (IP) 54 is specifically meant for rain and wet environs, as well as dusty ones.

Note that with extended exposure to sprays and splashes...some "Limited ingress is permitted"...but not in 'harmful' quantities.
(It just doesn't like 'jets' of water.)

So, should be perfect for rain...but not for hosing down the detector after a hunt.
