Tom Equinox/Manticore Iron Bias Setting F2/FE

Tom,

Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

There has been a lot of speculation on how and what to set the iron bias on the Equinox.

Based on these comments shared by you about the Manticore:

"Ferrous Limits Upper = Small iron debris. (ie..... nails). [[[ "Fe" on EQX]]]
Ferrous Limits Lower = This is sheet-steel. Flat steel. Tin. Any steel with a large/flat surface area. Steel bottlecaps (crown caps) qualify. [[[ "F2" on EQX]]]"

And thinking the Equinox only runs one filter (F2 or FE) at a time then we should be running FE at iron infested home sites and F2 at more modern sites.

With the Manticore, at an iron infested site does the Ferrous Limits Lower come into play on target id of iron nails?

Fred........NO! And.....almost a EXCLUSIVE = NO!!!
You will find that...... there are plenty of sites that are LITTERED with tons of nails........and nearly no sheet-steel. In sites like these..... Ferrous Limits Lower.....does not change any performance characteristics ..... nor according iron ID's. Ferrous Limits Lower does not change/alter the ID of NON sheet-steel (in other words = does not affect nails). At most....... Ferrous Limits Lower 'might' CLIP the audio of nails...... but...... less than 1% of the time.
