CZ 10.5 inch coil detection pattern question

Tom or anyone,

I think I may have read ( maybe in the Fisher Intelligence issue or on the forum...can't remember !) that the detection pattern of the 10.5 inch CZ coil is a bit different than the 8 inch coil. ( in terms of a true concentric design) I think I recall the pattern may be a bit wider or more bowl shaped, and also the coil is a bit better at hitting targets on edge.

True ? False ?

Yes..... a larger coil is better at detecting coins on edge..... as the coil envelops a wider 'angle-of-attack' electromagnetic footprint..... that can 'see' more of the 'sides' of the (on-edge) coin.

The transmit footprint of the 10.5" coil is concentric....... and simply/nearly linearly larger than the 8" coil. The 'receive' footprint is elongated longitudinally.... on a fore-aft axis.

In laymans terms yep the coil does seem to like coins on edge and will get the ones others miss because of this trait...
