Update on city park detecting ban.

Last week I was stopped from detecting at Baker Park in New Castle IN. I and many more detectorists have been detecting here for many years. It turns out there is not any ordinances what so ever banning detecting in New Castle IN. The park ranger and city policeman were just exercising unauthorized power. Happy Hunting. By the way, I exercise total detecting etiquette.

Let that be a lesson to all of us.

Just because someone tells you detecting isn't allowed doesn't automatically mean they are telling the truth.

It pays to check the actual laws.

I never heard from the Honorable Mayor York.
Perhaps the names of the park ranger and city cop would elicit a response

Yep, proves my point...

Get someone that's having a bad day (like we all do occasionally), and they feel like unloading their stress on an innocent party - in this case, a harmless detectorist simply enjoying a fun hobby.

It happens more than one would think. VERY glad you did your due diligence & didn't just lay down. This treasure hunter for one, salutes you sir!!!
