5" Nel coil on G2 Run Down

Still well built like the GMP 5" . excellent quality...

Airtest on Nickle...

Stock 5" 12.5 " slight blip

Nel 5" 13.5" slight blip

5x10 Factory eliptical 14.5 slight blip

11" Bi-Axial 15.5" Slight Blip

Now heres what I initially see...

Not as tight as the 5x10 the 5x10 is my main coil on the G2...

Not as deep as the 5x10 but close...

Deeper than the factory 5 though.. but not quite as tight as the factory 5...

The disc setting on the NEL takes a few disc point's higher Vs the other coils to get a nail quite...yet its weird the factory coils work splattery on a nail at 28 but intelligent audio...the NEL takes 33 and then its quite on the nail..(Solid iron tone) 32 is too noisy to hunt intelligently in nail's

I think they tried for depth more than separation...

More to come in the next few day's

My 5x10 is the perfect combo Ive found for the G2 by the way..Its right there in the iron with the best of them...

Keith,

Are the air tests made in AM mode or Disc. mode?

Airtest in Disc mode Ron...

Just out to the faintest peep....The machine is quite enough to run 99 sens..and hear the slight peep..

Does not seem to be as hot on the tiny stuff as the 5x10...

Keith, is your g2 software version 4 or less? I cannot get anywhere close to your airtests with my stock 11" coil.

Its Version 4 Paleo...

I did the airtest to sort let you see where the NEL was coming in at betwen the other's.....

When I airtest for depth I just find the spot the last peep is made...nto where the I.D. works the best or the sound is the smoothest yet fasintest and all that...I jsut wan tto Know where the last bit fo reprt is at...

thast the only way I know to be accurate..anything else is subjective to user preferance.. but the alast click, peep, pop that the machine makes is what I shoot for for comaprison of one coil to the other...

The 5" NEL on the F75 is okay but not as good as the one you have for the G2. Of course I air test differently I guess. I do it to the furtherest point in which I get a repeatable signal. On the F75, the NEL will do about 9 inches on a nickel in JE, disc mode.

For me it seems easier to distinguish a screw cap using the G2 and 5" Nel compared to the standard coil.

Love my 5 x 10 on the GB

It should wolf...The smaller coil no matter the brand will enhance the accuracy of the disc circuit..

Yes gman the 5x10 is the coil to own on the G2 and even omega..good depth fast response..actually faster than the BiAxial..very good coil..plus it's solid bottomed for stubble work..

I don't own the 5x10.

I purchased the nel sharpshooter coil in its place.

Similiar in size to the 5x10.

Its been too hot so have not gone out yet and tested the coil.

Thanks

Worth a sticky for consistent detector air testing..
Does truly seem to be the only valid method as anything else is subjective.
