Hunting in the snow ;-)

Hey all,

couldn't sit around any longer in this snow crap! Temps went into the 50s for 2 days and melted about 85% of the schit! Been itchin to get on an 1860s site I've been wanting to hunt but had to wait till the crops came out but then the stupid snow came so this is the 1st time I've been able to hunt the place winking smiley

Didn't do too bad considering the conditions I had to deal with (as you can see in the pics)!

Finds worth mention:

1879 Injun
1863 Injun
Brass skeleton type key
knapsack ring
couple old buttons
Thimble
Toe kick
(Fav.) = pocket watch Key Wind in the last pic

HH all

Good Finds, wonder why one penny is bad and the other is in good condishion. Just nice to get out, I can hunt when it is 50* but at 30* i quit.

1863 injuns are made of copper/nickel and don't do very well in the ground flintstone

after the war the comp. of the penny changed to mostly copper and it does a lot better on holding up against the elements/etc.

Way to go at least you got out...For those within drive distance of a saltwater shore it never freezes but dress warm especially waterproof boots as once the feet get wet you are done for the day..
Also don't forget the sledding hills for clad and perhaps a ring or two from taking gloves off along with the cold weather shrinks the fingers...Cabin fever can be h- ll.......

Unfortunately I can't seem to find a pat. date anywhere on the tap Tom,

here's a better picture of it cleaned up --- maybe this helps to give a general date range per the design?

The bulk of mine have a Patent date of 1863. Date range may be site-specific.

That 1879 IH penny does look pretty good compared to the 1963.

Congrats on the snow finds.
