Yes, a true pioneer to the industry and hobby. And from all accounts, a good man; a generous man.
I'll raise a glass to him right now; it's after 5pm here.
Thanks, Mr. Charles Garrett, for all the joy you've brought so many others!

It has been a sad year with Jack Gifford passing away and then Jerry Tyndall and now Charles Garrett,

May God watch over these families in their time and sorrow.

I have been thinking about how it would be nice to have some sort of a Hall of Fame for the people that have impacted this hobby. Along with one that documented timelines for companies and patents and engineers. At least online if not in person.

Said to hear of Charles passing...

Yet how many of us can lay claim to what he did ..

Thats what its all about accomplishing goal's in life....Actuallay getting out and impacting in some way or the other..I say good for Charles He was a leader not a follower...

He had it sounds like a full life and should be proud to leave the legacy for other to look back on..

And also Jerry Tyndall passe away on march 31st...great caring giving man......one of those types that are too nice at times for their own good.. ...

Gotta love his attitude...they dont build the detector he wants so he builds one to suit his needs... Another trailblazer...

Both men leave a legacy behind...Both men lived honorable lives!

when i first started in this great hobby back in '77
the very first book i was to read from cover to cover
was charlie's "successful coin hunting" this book has
been revised many times over the years, however it STILL remains
to this day as the "bible" of coin shooting. (R.I.P.) charlie, and profound thanks
for all that you have done for the hobby.

I never met Jerry Tyndall. I did talk to him a couple times by phone 30+ years ago, though. He was a kind man with a great laugh.
Thought about driving down to Coats and maybe seeing him and his relic collection several times over the past 2 years, but never followed up on it.
Sure wish I had. That would have been a treat.

Sad for sure :-(

It's because of an old timer I met in a park detecting using a Garrett machine and Mr. Garrett combined that I entered into this hobby back in 1977 as a 14 yr old kid when I worked my butt off on a paper route, selling nightcrawlers and fixing lawn mowers for the neighbors in the area to save up enough money as fast as I could to get my 1st machine after seeing all the cool stuff the old timer was finding in the the park that fateful day...

RIP Mr. Garrett and hoping the best for your family in this sad time of mourning for them.
