If you could have only one Tesoro metal detector, which one would it be and why?
I'd love to hear your thoughts folks....

Cheers.

At the moment I have them...bandido2 and Tejon. Tejon cause its a beast, and Bandido is just just simple and fun...love that "round sound".

Just kept one...still have my Cortes. You have to learn the language of its vdi, and you'd better have some pretty mild soil since there's no ground balance in disc mode, but it has that beautiful umax tone! The notch is useless, the disc knob is basically useless as well, but if you leave that disc set just above iron, any beep or burble WILL be nonferrous. That machine just doesn't dig nails.

Don't care for the tones of the HOT detectors, although they are powerful. The Cortes was much more powerful than my silver umax, don't know how it compares with the older bandidos and such...

Nothing nicer than the quiet, warm tone of a deep coin with that detector...the vdi hitting 95 about every third swing, letting you know that silver dime's down there...I've owned several much more highly thought of detectors since, but I still love it.

Any of the Silver Sabre line...however the current Silver umax is not quite the same. The Sidewinder umax was a good one too. These units were simple to operate and had some wonderful modulated audio. The discriminator circuits were one of the quietest I've ever used. Although they were not depth demons they performed very well in heavy trash laden sites. My all time favorite was the older Silver Sabre II.

The Tejon is the most powerful...And best unmasker in iron.. hottst low conductor machine they have and loves silver on edge...

I like a Bandido 2 Umax also as a close second...

And a Pantera is well just plain fund to run!!

Back in the day it dug me hundreds ( Literally) of Civil War buttons in house istes and camp sites..

I have owned a few Tesoros but would have to say the best "all around" Tesoro would have to be the Vaquero for me. Its been great in all types of hunting from parks to old camp sites around modern trash to heavy nails.
It is super deep when supertuned and runs more stable than the tejon I owned. Most of my good old coin finds have been with the Compadre though because when I use it while taking a break at the truck or the last hour of the
hunt or so when I am super tired from a days worth of detecting and like it cause it is really light, fun to use and tired of headphones cause I use it without them just to play while drinking a beer etc. something always seems to
pop out to make my detecting day great and the credit goes to the Compadre.lol

First Place - original Silver Sabre circa 1982: noteworthy finds - very deep dimes with the optional 11" coil

Second Place - original Golden Sabre circa 1986: noteworthy finds - many elusive 'nickels' from several baseball fields

For coin and jewelry hunting.
My favorite was the Eldorado umax size, right behind it was the Silver Sabre Umax.
But, really like using this older non-umax Cutlass II that I own now. Not the deepest,
does what I need it to do.

DeepTech Vista X with 3 search coils.
Works for me

Older Pantera notch unit as it has manual ground balance, unique notch and audio variances.

Thanks guys for your input....Ive never used or had a Tesoro. I'm wanting to buy just one....guess I'll have to decide on what mechine is best, for an all around detector.
I coin hunt for the most part but would like to have the capability to hunt relic's as well.

Thanks smiling smiley

Since you also live in Canada, you'll find that all Tesoros with a concentric coil love modern Canadian clad coins.
That's one big bonus reason to own a Tesoro!
Problem is after owning one, you get hooked on them..LOL

And if your looking for a Target ID version, everyone up here finds the Deleon does the trick.
If you plan on relic hunting and coin hunting the Vaquaro seems to be the Canadians choice.

DeepTech Vista X with 3 search coils.
Works for me

Well, since I own one, my vote is the Vaquero. Does what I need it to do. Only detector out of several that I have owned that won't be leaving. Txquest

Ive been using the f19 last month or two. Well, the Tejon was getting lonely. Brought her my relic sote today, and fell in love sll over again! Just a beast. Pulled a serving spoon out from close to 15" in some funky soil. LOVES brass!

I was always fond of the El Dorado uMax. And if you have non mineralized soil the conquistador was very good.
