I've found several of the wild bird ones here in the UK, they were recorded with the Euring website. We also find quite a few racing pigeon rings (they are larger, usually), but there's not much point reporting them, pigeon racers are only interested if the bird is still attached and alive!

Yes I hear you, the tag I reported still had part of the bird leg on it.

Found one years ago and turned it into the game commission..advised they would check it out and one guesses all depends on the band....migratory birds patterns and such are collected.....fellow hunters also shot bear and deer with tags also for animal studies...

Look at report bird band. Usgs site. I've harvested many geese with bands. They'll ask you where you harvested or found it. They sent me certificates with the date & location of where the bird was born & banded. I hope I could help. HH TIM

One of my favorite and most unusual finds of all time.

I went on the government's website and they said this was an unusually old one from a Canadian goose banded in 1988 in a state 700 miles away from where I found it.

These are very collectable.
I am so glad I found one because it looks great on display.

My goose call lanyard is full of them. That was my previous addiction. I still do it but I'd rather relic hunt.

I found one about 15 years ago with a bit of leg attached. My dad raised rollers for years while I was growing up, we would band them and raise them. We had some really good pigeons. Some good stock , I remember my dad going to shows and getting some good birds. Livng in richmond in the late 70's 80's
we had people break into our coup and steal pigeons . I've got some old pigeon mags if anyone is interested.

I had pigeons for pets when was a kid, lately on my street and surrounding area there has been a handfull of odd grey looking pigeons, maybe someone had them as pets also. Lot of the old homes have been torn down and likely birds just let go in the wild.

I do remember on a service call one client did have quite a few doves in his backyard, my guess they went wild.

It's weird that pigeons come up in a topic. I've been seeing pigeons fly around the house for the last month. It's got me to thinking about raising some Birmingham rollers.

The Birmingham Roller is a very popular breed of performing pigeon, with around 10,000 breeders worldwide.
