Arkansas, I also used the King Cobra quite a bit when hunting old logging camps and ghost town sites back in the day. It was a good detector in the iron. I had 2 of them and this one was a barely used backup.

IDXMonster, lytle78, I've tried many different detectors through the years but the ones I've used the most have been the Whites IDX Pro, Whites 5900/6000 and the Minelab Sovereigns. Each one was used for specific hunting conditions. I don't believe in the one size fits all when it comes to metal detectors. The type of hunting I do has slowly changed so my detector arsenal has chang

Thanks ghound! Coke does seems to be similar to hot rocks then in that it's mineral content is higher than the surrounding ground mineralization which would give a positive signal. In my area hot rocks can be a problem also but the ground notch feature on the Deus helps eliminate them while still hitting good targets close or mixed. Has anyone tried the ground notch to eliminate the coke acr

What type of audio signal and vdi reading do you get when going over coke with the Deus? I would think that it would be similar to a hot rock?

If anything this is great reading! I have to admit that my feelings do get hurt when someone says that theirs is bigger or better than mine. It's a man thing.

Calabash, I would like to see how the Nox handles the real thick trash. How about a video of the nox at the old ice cream shop or even the 1870 house site. Thanks!

Today I mainly hunt with the XP Deus and Minelab Sovereign GT. My favorites for many years and my main detectors were the Whites 5900/6000's, the Minelab Sovereigns, Minelab Musky's and Mr. Bill modded Whites IDX Pro's. You don't see this one mentioned very often but I also had a very hot Gold Mountain King Cobra that I used quite a bit at my ghost town and logging camp sites.

I started out with the first "original" Sovereign and have owned every model since. Are they the best choice for iron infested sites? No but I have dug a lot of nice relics and old coins using them in old logging camps and ghost towns. Sovereigns are not very impressive if you're just doing air tests but they do much better in old ground on deep targets. I still use my GT when I ne

My main detecting season is coming up also. Right now I use 3 detectors to cover most of my hunting. The Deus, a Whites 6000 XL Pro and the Sovereign GT. I live in Washington state and 90% of my hunting are old iron infested logging camps and ghost towns in the thick rain forest areas. I usually have to wait for winter to thin out some of the underbrush. It's still pretty thick and slow goin

Monte, that's why I've always kept my Whites 5900 and 6000 XL Pro. They are still working for me. I did go full digital recently and bought an XP Deus. So far so good.

I've been using different Whites detectors for over 35 years and the 5900/ 6000 as my main detectors for most of my hunting. Whites have have always done well in my ground. I've also used the Minelab Sovereigns since they first came out. I've also tried most of the other brands through the years and some where great and some not so great. In my ground the 5900/6000 will go as deep

They made the same coil for the Sovereigns also. I tested it with my GT and Elite and found that I had to turn the sensitivity way down or run it in auto otherwise it was to hot in my ground at least. I couldn't get the depth of the Sunray 8 inch or tornado 7 1/4 coils. Might work better in less mineralized ground.

If air tests had anything to do with how well a detector performed on depth in actual hunting conditions especially in more mineralized ground all my detectors would be for sale right now except the Deus. This is not my video but it's close to what I'm getting with my own Deus.

I hadn't bought a new detector in 6 years until I picked up a new Deus recently. The detectors that I've been using for years covered any type of hunting I usually do. I used the Minelab Sovereigns when I needed depth in bad ground and on the beaches. The Minelab Musky's covered my iron infested lumber camps and ghost town sites also with good depth and the Whites 5900/6000 (still

I live in the the iron belt of the Pacific Northwest where most detectors struggle when it comes to depth. My Sovereign GT will hit targets in ground deeper than it air tests especially on our black sand beaches. My Minelab Advantage and Whites 5900/6000 will not hit targets in ground nearly as well as they air test but I've found more old coins with my old Whites over the years than all my

Since you showed me yours, I'll show you mine. I've owned and used all the Musky models including the Sterling. Still use mine hunting old logging camps and lumber mill sites but I have a new Deus I will be giving a workout this winter at my iron laden sites.

I haven't had the Deus long enough to gauge it's depth limits on coin size targets in my area. I've watched videos of live digs and coin garden type tests and if set up properly it seems to get impressive depth in mild to moderate mineralization. Unfortunately I live right in the middle of the iron contaminated soil of the Pacific Northwest. I did dig a Barber dime in clean ground

I haven't had the Deus for very long. I spent many hours reading the forums and watching a lot of different videos before I decided to try the Deus. So far I have found the Deus very easy to set up for my ground and hunting areas. My hunting is usually done in the winter and spring months when the underbrush in the woods thins out. Our woods are pretty thick and can be tough to swing in. Usu

This is getting to be a bit silly now. I understand the Deus is not for you. You don't like the wireless system. You don't like the cost of the coils etc. That's understandable but you have to admit when it comes to performance it's pretty damn good. It's an excellent coin detector, it's also extremely good at pulling coins and relics from iron infested sites and onc

So let me get this right. The dues is going in the wrong direction because they added a pin pointer and a new coil to the arsenal? In that case all the other detector company's have been going in the wrong direction for years also. I personally don't need the pin pointer or the higher frequency coil but the tweaks in the new update for better iron ID and better performance in high miner

Here is a site that that will give you some info on your ground conditions. Page 113-114 shows the iron content in the ground in your area. I live right in the middle of the red zone up here in the Pacific Northwest.

I have to agree on the Whites 5900 in all metal. The Whites 4 filter Detectors have always been great performers in disc. mode also in bad ground. The Compass vari-filter detectors also work well. The Gold Scanner Pro is a near twin to the 5900 in performance in bad ground but with the higher 13.77 Khz has the edge in the lower conductive range.

John, wow you must have some really good ground. I can't get those kind of depths in my ground. The beaches are a different story. Our beaches are pretty nasty but I can hit coins in the 12 inch range using the Sunray 8 inch.
