It is actually a nice feature on a machine in disc mode. I tend to crank the gain on a machine and lose modulation, I often forget to look, but its a tool thats nice when coin digging with FBS.
I do hope the pinpoint is improved over th

With the caveat were getting close to hair splitting, as all FBS machines are very similar on MOST targets. I'd get a clean explorer over the safari. Few more tweeks that you can do and there have been some amazing deals packaged with multiple coils floating around.

I had two DEEP plates get dug beside me this weekend with a 11" coil equipped deus. A box plate at a measured 20", and a breast plate at a legit, measured and helped dig the hole at 19". A lot of the relic guys around here have been raving about digging large brass at deep depths for a while now. Having seen some 13"-14" minies dug by my good buddy on several occasions,

The below has always intrigued me. Sometimes I think we underestimate our ancestors. While the Polynesians were known for their sailing, that's a LONG way in those little boats. In addition I've always been fascinated by the Mayan and Aztec cultures, and what could be under all that jungle growth even today. Going to Machu Picchu is a lifetime goal.

Alot depends on the operator obviously, but that 5x8 is an absolutely bad dude and surprisingly deep. Maybe you get a small target or two in extremely dense areas, maybe. Whether I got a dud or what even wide open I just never could get the 5-6" coins with the small racer coil some say they did. Its a good coil, it just performed as expected for something with a small foot print and nothing

Realise it's not the intended use, but if you could please share any info on how it responds to higher conductors such as a dime at depth.

Vaguely recall that paticular style backmark dating postwar, 1880's or later. Ive dug a few local railroad buttons that were similar. Im no button expert though.

Still the best at what they do. Definetely good to have in the arsenal. The tones, target ID accuracy, and depth are just so good. Hopefully one day we'll get a 3lb, balanced fbs unit. Minelab is leaving so much money on the table.

Lytle I think you hit on a big factor, global economy. Conversion rate and the fact that alot of people outside of the bubble of the US and more well off Euro countries are hurting more than we may be aware. Also things like processors and such have gotten cheaper, while any technolgy that doesn't really change that much with a flooded market equals cheaper prices. I bought a $15 DVD player

Very well could be, there were a ton of those notes and dollar bills made. I have about $50 between 3 notes handed down to me. Maybe it's changed, but at one point it was suprising what they were worth, as in a lot less than you'd think.
As MRH said every one you run across certainly could be a fake, so I'd be careful before laying down any money.
Edit* was curious.... look

This was my first , but Im told it wasnt the greatest from a finds standpoint. Went with 2 friends, we each dug about 20 bullets and some misc brass like eagle buttons, J hooks, and a scabbard tip. This was pretty much a Yankee only site, and it's been hit. I ran a loaner TDI that I didn't get the time in the saddle with prior to the hunt like I'd liked due to being so busy, and ex

Thanks guys. The one I ran across is the exact one you posted Ski, with the louvers and freq shift on the face. I'm gonna go tommorow after a meeting, provided it and turns on and works I'll most likely get it. Never had a tesoro and it'll be something to tinker with.

Local place has one for $75. Its the Umax model with the 9x8. This would be mainly for a guest/kid to use. From the little bit thats out there other than lack of manual GB, seems like a decent machine to grab and dig some coins down to 6" or so (we have average to good dirt).
Thoughts? Any particular coils that work well on them?
Thanks and happy thanksgiving

Given higher freqs propensity to slower power drain combined with the regular racer being so efficient I bet you could run that thing forever between battery swaps.

Tough to say. Don't know your specific region. But in many rural areas there simply wasn't much coinage being dropped, particularly denominations above nickels. In my hometown there are about a half dozen house sites I hunt from civilwar era-1930's. Indians, early wheats, and 3 varieties of nickels are fairly common. Dimes and up are rare as hen's teeth. Then I have a few hous

Generally I gently just dry brush, and will use the side of a toothpick or my fingernail for crud. Been down the soap and water road as well and most times haven been happy with it. The one exception is if I find a button that I think may be holding a lot of gilding. Them I'll use a water ammonia mix briefly, then wash in a baking soda paste to help neutralize the ammonia. Its a piece by pie

For old sites the racer and its available coils are effectively all you need. That looser river bottom soil is where I get the best depth with it. Go hunt and dig some relics! Im an hour and some change north from the state line on 85/95. Ive spent a ton of time with the racer and your welcome hunt some time.

Do you still have the original, thin eared coil TNSS? Mine had the overload issue, which was taken care off. This replacement is definetely different. I hunted under some power lines the other day that gave me trouble before (as expected with most machines), and the new is definetely more EMI friendly audibly.

Temps have been brutally warm for this time of the year making my deer hunting an effort in futility. So I've spent the last 2 days hitting a spot the rebel army camped at for a day to gather supplies. This is mainly grass and targets are deep and the place has been scoured hard. I'd always mainly hunted in D2, gain at 80 as my ears just couldn't take much more and I believe Tom sa

Definetely a game changer for xterra users. Ive always been intrigued by them but the coil deal was a bit of a turn off. When I thought about getting one it seemed I'd just as soon get a flagship unit instead of dropping the extra money afterwards in coils. Kind of silly though as the 10.5" 7.5khz plus a tighter DD would cover it mainly.

Thanks Tom, definetely does the soul some good to get in the woods.
Kevin, funny you mention the MK-85, that's the exact muzzle loader I have. It's a pretty stainless barrel, with the green and gray wood model. I've went through a few of the more modern guns, and a few of the options, break open and smokeless powder in paticular are nice, but that danged old knight has out sho

Older deep coins I suppose. I do a little more urban hunting during the week and have found about 55-60 silvers in the last year and a half. On the weekends if I'm in the iron on a house site I find alot of masked relics, but alot of these southern housites up to the 30's or so it seems like the folks just didn't have much coinage, and the ratio is highly skewed to indians, wheats,

Glad your gonna get out Kevin , we needed it too. As a black powder hunter it'll quiet our woods down for Saturdays opener. I've got the whole week off to hunt the rut, take the racer to some houseites that have only seen a nautillus w/a big coil, and eat my grandma's cooking.

Interesting how VDI spread will play out if different freqs are selectable. Hopefully the processing can adapt to the different tx/rx and truly give us a mutlifunctional machine that performs well across the board. The V3i/Vx3 and deus arent exactly silver slayers nor gold machines at the larger and smaller wave lengths of theyre spectrums.
Doesn't seem to indicate any type of response a

That interface looks great, lots of options/programs but everything is still layed out in an easy to use format. A detector shouldnt have a back button. Seeing how freq shift is still an option, if you can indeed select frequencies as the option appears in the expert options thats HUGE. Personally would like to see something in the 10x12 range, as a general use coil that perhaps gets a hair more

Looks like there really are no distribution channels to the US, and saw mention the UK distributor basically said it's not worth it after shipping. Didn't think it would be TOO bad from the UK.
