I'll be the first to call it the Quish.
There's surely a market for an Equinox 200, it's got to be an easier job to strip down the 600/800 to minimal guts, than come out with a 1000 model ( which will doubtless happen, just not so soon ).

"however not one question regarding how long you’ve been metal detecting.."
It makes sense that they would want a variety of users, both fairly new , and very experienced. If you're launching a new entry-level machine, it would be useful to know how an entry-level detectorist gets on with it, for example.

Quote Marcomo: "I had a Silver Sabre micromax that air-tested on a silver dime at 9". I bought a 5.75" coil from Rusty Henry and had him tune the detector to the smaller coil. When I got it back .. it was hitting at 9" just like with the bigger coil. I don't know exactly what Rusty did to that unit.".
You really should've provided this information in your ope

It's normal for the coil to be manufactured to be within a certain 'specification range' , similarly the control box electronics are made/adjusted to a specific requirement. The end result is that when any two are paired up, they will work as intended.
But obviously there will be small differences, which may be noticed, particularly TID values shift. So it's possible that s

Then Impulse AQ-LTD for the bipolar-coil model.... or maybe AQ+ ?
I'm not a fan of the new names, TBH. It could be worse, though ... here in the U.K, Ford produced two family cars that shared names with popular porno magazines - Escort and Fiesta.

Yes, I was referring to the bipolar coil, which I'm thinking will be two coils wound together, so physically will package up like a regular mono-coil, but wil have more electrical connections.
Alexandre did describe the method in this Geotech1 thread:

Based on stuff I've read over on the Geotech1 forum, it may have multiple microprocessors, so the business of updating the software by the user is not viable. It's something strictly for something with one micro, and a micro that's capable of being updated that way ... most are not, programming in a factory with dedicated equipment is the norm.

Quote:"the number of pins could mean absolutely nothing."
What I was meaning was: If this coil only has 2 pins, it means it's a mono-coil, as the dual-winding coil has to have 3, or probably 4 connections.

I'm curious to see if this model is mono-coil only. The 'full' Manta design has a special dual-winding coil, to help reduce ground signal pickup. I'm guessing this machine isn't capable of working the 'dual' coil ... and they are unlikely to be supplying the 'dual' coil on a machine that can't exploit it's specific characteristics. How many p

That coil, and the clevis arrangement look ugly, and not at all hydro-dynamic. I would've thought that would be an important aspect of the design for a machine that has water-hunting users as it's target market.
Probably quite strong, though.

How are you getting on with this, Albert ?
Have you bought any more at current levels? Did you sell any anywhere near the end-2017 high ?
I came across this interesting chart a few months ago, showing power useage by miners:
It shows a noticeable drop in consumption during last year, which is intriguing. I got the impression this was due to less people actually mining, due to it being le

Oh, I thought you wanted to float a Deus antenna....
The Equinox antenna is close to the top edge of the case, and runs horizontal, in the middle.
See the MD-Hunter post on it:
I can't say exactly where would be the best position for the co-ax antenna, but the rear face looks the most likely.

Those Deus 'water antennas' are actually a length of co-axial cable, with a 31mm long antenna on each end. One antenna is sufficiently close to the similar one inside the coil, that the surrounding water has minimal effect. Provided the other end is not submerged, it should re-transmit the coil signal similar to the coil itself. So, yes, it could be floated on a foamblock etc.

Good idea, ask an Englishman how to pronounce a French word. Didn't we manage to transform "d'accord" into "OK" ?
Aren't there any video's in French, eg. by XP themselves, on Youtube? ( I can't check myself, PC's not fancy enough, it moans about unsupported mime settings, I dunno.)

"Or" , pronounced "or" is French for gold. It's used to give fancy-sounding names to several grocery products here in the UK. Fancy some Carte D'Or coffee ? Or maybe something stronger, like Le Piat D'Or red wine ?
But many French words that end in X have the X silent, so maybe it's just pronounced "or" ?
For words where it is pronounced, like t

That straight-line to the coil is something I picked up on, on my F75. I've made a nice re-designed shaft for it, and so during the design process, I drew out full-scale drawings of the original, while debating what to change / what to keep etc. And while pondering the S-bend I started noticing the positioning of the coil. I made some changes, based on the fact that I'm nearly always go

You've had all sorts of answers, ranging from people telling you why they, or others think it's old tech; through to a discussion about Eastern Europes detectors, opinions about Chinese counterfeiters, demining, the US detector industry. And others replying they think it's a great machine, and they don't think it's old tech.

Quote Bill Long: " That's not at all what is intended to be"
Your opening post is extremely vague. Please tell us what the thread IS intended to be about. Are you planning on buying a T2, but are concerned it's not that good ? Are you trying to sell one, but find no-one's interested because it's viewed as last-years tech? Do you own one presently? etc etc.

It's been around for over 11 years, so while it was very good at the time, it hasn't been improved upon significantly since, whereas rival manufacturers machines have.
It lacks such features as:
Water-resistant/waterproof packaging.
Selectable operating frequency.
Cordless headphone capability.
And to a lesser extent, rivals have introduced more innovative stem designs, added use

Yes, my prior comments in the WJS thread indicated I was considering paying 350 Dollars, but add in 80 Dollars shipping and a likely 110 Dollars customs/VAT fee made me shy away. So I thought TNS was offering the same deal, but would generously pay the international shipping.
If it had been done via PM, my response would've been different ... proposing a way that benefitted my Government mu
