But I do have one Q: "If two beetles walk under my coil while sweeping will I lose depth?"????????

"What the hell was I thinking?
Must be brain freeze because when I tested the Fisher F 19 a few years ago, it was good on the wet sand running at 19kHz but, had to be GB'd carefully.
Similarly, last year I tested the ATPro on the wet sand and that's running at 15kHz
While not as 'stable' as the F19, meaning the AT falsed more than the F 19, it was still a pretty dece

Good Q. Ziggy!
Someone asked me that a week ago and I was put on the spot to answer! I'd say L to M are best. H can tend to be 'skittish' i.e more prone to falsing over salt water and wet sand, kelp strewn about on the beach etc.
My experience however would be somewhat limited to chiefly having prototyped all X-Terra's coils and a few of the Coiltek orange set.

Hiya,
S'funny but, I was out today.
Filming a "Z-Lynk" clip. Tricky.
To get an as good a 'listening experience' for the viewer, I used my Canon HD camcorder with a 'cold shoe' attached mic bought especially for the camera.
I had to 'upgrade' the camera's firmware to make the mic work. Took several attempts to make it happen.
But, I had eve

"Well got! The 3500 is/was a great detector.
Yeah...you're right to a certain point: ground mineralisation doesn't matter to certain GPX units but it does matter to the 'lowly' GP3500
But you could go ahead and do your test garden just to get used to how the detector sounds on whatever you care to put into your test patch?
When you get to VA, you can expect sever

Devilpookie,
I remember very well. I've got Notes and articles that I wrote.
Word of caution here: DON'T throw out your GT's and go looking for used XS2's...etc
The GT is a great beach hunter and on open flat sands, say with a 12" or 15" coil, unbeatable.
But a lot of my beaches are rocky and have cliffs and therefore I have a lot of rock pools exposed at l

A good question.
Having prototyped both, the GT stands out as 'the better detector' because it can be 'manually ground balanced' albeit via AccuTrak.
But it's a limited and hit or miss ground balance choice let's say from -2 to +2
The GT did definitely get me a few inches of additional depth in one afternoons tests by getting down to about 2" deeper on a

Canslawhero,
"One day my brother came home from the recording studio and gave me a headphone with brite yellow cushions and a wire as skinny as a piece of string and said, "I got you a decent headphone to use with your metal detector!"
You know what? I could tell trash from treasure with these and they were absolutely fantastic soundwise. That was back in 1979 and the detector

From where I'm sitting, that looks like 'frozen ground' waking up? Soggy footprints but whitish on the edges as in frost?"
What coil and shaft are those - can you get replacements?"

'While all these wireless set-ups are welcomed, I'd much prefer if the detector companies spent their time developing NEW detectors!

Borneo Bleeper is discussing Pull Tabs AND Ring Pulls - there is a difference.
He also refers to 'pull tab' and 'a beaver tail section' which is incorrect. He's actually referring to the older 'ring pulls' that come in 2 round shapes and not the more modern/common square pull tab.
Get your ducks in a row please.

The 'good news' is that. it's not a problem.
The bad news is that's just the way the "Racer/s" function.
I've extensively tested both the 'Red original', and the 'Racer 2': have tested them with 3 different coils and all coils will vary the Target ID's.
On the original, pull tabs came in the 50's
On the R2, they came in 30

Many years ago, I was told how to age a tree is done by measuring it's circumference with a measure and then multiply that by two and a half = it's age.

Hiya Ziggy,
Happy New Year to ya!
So, how's it going for you? Still getting out?
I'm interested in the 71 but, do you know if it's any good at all on a beach?
Or is it a strictly land unit?
Thanks buddy.

I'm trying to line one up for testing!
I've some experience with Russian type signnagraph display!
Had to throw away the manuals as I don't speak Russian ( do have a few phrases )
To me, the spec sheet appears to have everything that a person would like to have in a detector?
I'll follow you with interest on this one - we be goats!

Keith,
Thank You from the bottom of my heart for your very kind words which are music to my ears!!! I really DO appreciate that.
Yes, you are also right - it was a happy time because Minelab was still Minelab and I was encouraged by my late Father "to keep at it, keep making film"
"The Musketeer" video was the most expensive film I ever did...at the time somewhere arou
