Interesting, it was two stars at the time I started this thread.

Minelab Discrimination Ratings
What do you suppose they mean by discrimination, ID at depth perhaps? Regardless, Minelab considers the Equinox to be on par with an X-Terra, which makes perfect sense considering the price.

That tells me all I need to know. Any thoughts of this inexpensive machine being better than an Etrac or CTX were apparently just wishful thinking.

The model 35 is a potentially great product. I can't believe the only video of it is in Russian, and that was probably the model 15 because it sounded the same on a Lesche as it did on a presumably nonferrous target.
I previously owned a Pro Find 25. The ergonomics were terrible, and these new models appear to have the same round body and small pushbutton as the 25. Even so, I'd b

I believe the Safari was introduced before the CTX; so, I see this comparison as irrelevant.
Whenever Minelab introduces a machine with more features and/or better performance than previous models, the price

All I've wanted from Fisher is a digital CZ that has a continuous depth meter, with no need for pinpointing to get a depth reading. You wouldn't think that would be difficult for them to bring to market.

I'm guessing that it doesn't have the depth of an Etrac or CTX, otherwise it would cannibalize the sales of those machines. I wasn't impressed with the depth of the Deus; so, a machine lacking depth

The other day I detected a new site. I was digging a large number of wheat cents at this location, all at about the same depth. After digging a wheat cent, I got a one way signal about two feet away that I suspected could be another wheat cent. My suspicion was correct, it was a wheat cent with a steel bolt about the size of my finger with it in the hole. When I rechecked the hole with my coi

I've been wanting to get spare middle rods for my favorite CZ, in order to make changing coils easier. I notice that First Texas has changed the design of the rods. On older CZ machines, the middle rod has a collar on both ends. On the most recent First Texas CZ machines, the middle rod only has one collar and the second collar is instead mounted on the upper rod.
Is this new style mid

If not, how else would you explain the fact that someone can go back to the same site, time after time with the same detector, and continue to find old items in areas where he has previously swung his coil?
The performance of a truly modern and precise scientific instrument shouldn't be dependent on EMI, ground moisture, angle of approach, and various other random variables. It should b

No, the 11.8" is a nearly brand new First Texas machine. The 11.6" is a transition machine, Los Banos parts assembled by First Texas.

I have more CZ machines than I can use and would like to sell a few:
CZ3D (Tom tuned to 11.8"), $650
CZ3D (Tom tuned to 11.6"), $625
CZ-5, $325
CZ6-a, $325
I also have an extra 5" coil and 10.5" coil

Thanks. This explains why DetectorPro hasn't been answering the phone. I have a pair of headphones that I want repaired. Hopefully the new owners are doing repairs.

In my view, the biggest weakness of the CZ is that it will not give a depth reading without pinpointing. I realize that it is possible to correlate depth with the faintness of the tone; however, I'd much prefer a continuously reading depth meter. Does such a meter exist, and if not, is it possible for a hobbyist to create one?

I'm relatively new to using a CZ3D. In your beach video, you appear to be searching in auto tune, and then switching to discrimination mode only when you have a signal.
What is your thought process or rationale for doing this? Do you do the same thing when hunting on land?

In my experience, returning to a productive site after a year will usually produce some good finds even if using the same machine as before. Perhaps only the Impact could have made these finds and perhaps not. Congratulations regardless.
