Deeptech has been making the Vista X with the 6 pin connector for a few months now. If you order a Vista coil, make sure to
specify 5 or 6 pin. HH Richard

I talked to Mary at Garrett sometime back and asked her why the 2500 was still in production with over 20 year old technology. Her answer was simple, " It still sells." I don't think that Garrett will undermine their AT Pro, Gold and Max sales by producing a competing detector. They need something to replace the Ace sales. It was the Ace 150 and 250 first and then the Ace 200,

IMHO, The 11" DD is a "hair" deeper on the Vistas than the 7.7" x 10.5" coil. With that said, I like the elliptical coil better, I may lose a 1/2" or so but the better separation abilities outweighs
the depth performance. I hunt mainly old houses, CW sites that is littered with iron and if I need deeper on that coil, I turn the disc back.

TNSS,
As a ham radio operator, I used analog equipment and filters were used to clean up the signal, high/low pass, band pass, etc. Those signals were sine wave but now with a conversion to using a square wave, much more can be done with filtering. DSP can filter signals mathematically and remove most unwanted data and maintain desired information.
Hopefully, in a couple of weeks, I can answer

One thing that we all have to remember is metal detecting is a hobby and meant to bring a measure of pleasure. If you find happiness with a pin pointer duct taped to a stick and then scoot it across the ground, I am happy for you and will not criticize you for it. When we get upset for one reason or another because of likes or dislikes, could we be defeating the purpose of our detecting.

I have used the ORX with the 9" coil a few hours. Considerably simpler and seems lighter since the they are using the Lite rods now. The only program I used was default 4, 14.4 khz with a few tweaks. I did well with 3 silvers (one an 1857) and impressed with how well it performs and how easy it is to use for a considerable time an not feel the aches in the arm or shoulder. While I like t

The only videos that I have ever done have been with a full size dslr. That is fine if it's a family get together, trip, etc but trying to do detecting videos is
not good. Lugging around a big camera in the middle of no-where is crazy. I have done a few but just not working for me. For you folks who shoot
videos, what camera do you use. Do I need a Go-Pro ? Which one ? Will a Hero 3, o

Most of my hunting is for CW relics or old home sites where I want to dig non-ferrous. I need one or 2 tones.More tones are useless, to me, in this situation. When I was using the E800, I used 1 tone, nickels, high tone and zincs on up, ran a high tone, too. I used the Gold Mode with only a single tone to hunt relics most of the time. Less confusion and simpler for me. When the big box Ba

Dan, a couple of years ago at a club hunt in South Carolina, they used a program that would work with any old map when over laying it on new one, as long as you had North and one existing landmark from the older map. Worked great but don't remember the program. I downloaded it back then but it was too complicated for me. Might try googling it.. It is out there somewhere.. Richard

GreenMeanie, you are right.. big box stores, Amazon, Walmart, lots of others are almost to the point of pushing the small dealer out of business... the "mom and pop" stores are almost a thing of the past.. sad but true... Richard

How the new Garrett performs remains to be seen but you can't argue with their success. I sell more Garrett detectors, pinpointers and accessories than the next 3 companies combined. You have to remember that performance takes a back seat to promoting your product which, at this time, they do better than anybody. For example, the Impact is one of the best detectors available on the market b
