I think everyone who is not happy with the childish attitude that this forum has been subjected to recently, take it directly to Tom D, by PM. That way Tom knows how many people are not happy. If Tom chooses to leave it as is, then we will know he shares your way of running a forum. I for one do not come here for garbage posting. It's a shame a few have to run the forum into the pits for the

Old times: White's Coinmaster V Supreme. No disc, but the first one to work on a heavily mineralized virgin 80 year old amusement park picnic area, in the late 1960's No more digging hot rocks! Just Barbers, Indians, V's and up.
New times: Minelab GPX 5000, once I got the hang of it, I can use it anywhere. If they did not have that bit of iron disc that it is capable of, then th

Thanks guys. I'm hoping it's in the connector up top. They can be hard to remove when changing coils and maybe pulling on them breaks a solder joint. If it's in the coil itself.....well that's definitely not a job for me lol.

Does anyone repair, or know of someone reputable that can repair Minelab Commander Series coils for the GPX 5000? I have (2) 11" DD coils and a 15x12 DD coil that all stopped working. I would get an SEF coil for it but I don't think they make a 10x12 coil for the GPX. I have the snowshoe coil lol (21x17) SEF and it worked well for me on the beach. Wish I could get their 12x10 or any oth

Zone to me has always meant - the mindset when you focus intensely on how you are swinging the coil, what speed you are swinging it at. Complete concentration and positive attitude. You are one with the machine LOL. Seriously, when you are in the zone it seems you find more. I get that way beach hunting on a good day.

Minelab has no worries. They are always being picked on. That right there tells you a lot of people are scared on how good they are. I just laugh at the different ways people try and incite controversy with them and their products. The Equinox frightens a lot of non Minelab people. The silence makes it even worse lol I will patiently wait for mine to get to me. When it does I will post how horrib

In order of age.... White's Coinmaster V Supreme - Whites Eagle Spectrum - Minelab E Trac - Minelab CTX (17" Coil) - Minelab GPX 5000. Soft spot in my heart.... The Radio Shack $19.95 detector that started it all about 1969.

I agree. I am on the waiting list for the 800, but that type of information only makes it look bad, not good LOL. I went to a beach today and hunted the exact spot that I hunted last week. I found more silver. All that tells me is the beach moves around and unlocks targets that were there, but not found. So which machine is better? The GPX I used last week Or the same GPX I used today? If the E

I want all those people on the whole internet, to stop whining about everything that they can't have, when they want it. That would be all I want ......except the Equinox too of course LOL.

No one in need of a free battery for their DFX? I'm pretty sure it should take a charge. I just don't want to scrap it if someone can use it. I started an electronic / metal scrapping business and now when I see something, I think of how to scrap it ><

Thanks. I may just pick one up. The Garrett Carrot works well for most situations for me, but at the beach it does not like the seeping water that comes up when you dig a deep hole, without retuning it. I just hope the FT has a loud speaker and doesn't clog with sand as most pin pointers do on the beach.

Is anyone still using the White's rechargeable pack for their DFX? I have one here I just found, that is brand new and wondering if anyone wanted it? It still reads @ 9.7volts. I'm sure it's been here for a couple of years hiding in my cellar

I'm thinking that they included single frequency options, because if they didn't someone would complain!!!! But another reason would be that in rare instances, it may do better than the multi frequency. Possibly EMI. If for some reason multi does not work well, you would be stuck with it. So the option to try other frequencies is there. Also we have to remember that they are trying to m

What machine is worth 2 grand???? Any machine that makes your detecting enjoyable. My CTX 3030 on the beach with 17"coil- yep, worth it....Relic hunting? Not so much LOL A used GPX 5000 for relic hunting...definitely worth it. My old machines Coinmaster V Supreme, Eagle Spectrum, DFX... yup worth it, but luckily well under 2 grand. Honestly I would have a hard time spending 2 G's with a

Now all you guys have done it!!!!!!! I will now preorder the Minelab. I've noticed a trend since the E trac came out. After announcing a new detector, Minelab bashers come out in droves. They tell you all kinds of negatives about a machine they have never tried. They tell you their machine is better. They tell you Minelab is a liar. And........ after the dust settles these new Minelab models

I think it's a bit earlier than Civil War. Probably 1800-1840's. At least that is the range all of my flat buttons are generally from here in New England. Most Civil War buttons should be two piece buttons

I'm wondering if this model is really just for the mid line market. I have this feeling that they are holding the best of this technology for the next machine designed to replace the CTX and Excalibur with one deeper unit? What are the odds of that??

I must say that video will not make me sell my CTX lol. Thanks Shelton for making it. And the fact that I understand Polish made it even more enjoyable. You made me smirk a little. Thanks for the honest quick review. I am very disappointed that the machine could not hit the targets that are in the test garden.

You guys are making me want to bundle up my GPX 5000 and hit the beach with it lol. I've hit quarters at 12" (barely) with the 17" coil on my CTX and always wondered how the GPX would do there?
