Been detecting 39 years. Had a bunch of detectors. If a detector will not air test at 6 inches,. it probably will not be very good in ground. One that detects 11 inches does not mean it will do well in the ground. But the air test does give somewhat an idea of maybe what it may be capable of in ground.....Jack

I have found 116 gold rings using mostly a Garrett Ace 250.Which to me proves you do not have to have a high end detector. The gold rings took several years to find.I have several so called high end detectors but the Ace 250 does a better job for me. The 250 is not a high frequency machine but seem for me the best gold ring hunting. Deep silver is another thing. You must have a detector that get

I know someone who lives on a old farm. They say after every winter they see more and more square nails on the surface. They gather them up all they see, and then the next spring more square nails are on the surface. Don't know if coins have the same affect after a cold winter......Jack

I have a Rancer coming. I believe in time when the Racer and Fores Core become used more , the sales will increase. To compare it to the Deis or Etrac at about 1/3 the price is saying a lot for the Racer.....Jack

Most of the Racer talk is on this forum. My dealer who is a distributor for 3 brands never heard of the Racer until I pointed it out to him a couple of days ago.....Jack

It does not look like a good detector for a pull tab infested park. Tabs everywhere on the surface. I know you could hunt holding the coil above the ground. Some say overloading is not a problem. I sold two detectors to get one but I think I will wait a while and see if the company will correct this problem. I know several folks say this is not a problem. I think I will wait a while, I see this a

It looks like it would not be good in a pull tab infested park as it would overload all the time.Pull tabs all over the surface, I guess maybe you could remember to hunt holding the coil above the ground. I am just another one on the fence. Have the money but not quiet sure yet. It really sounds like a great machine. I sold two detectors to get it but I think I will wait a while. ..Maybe the co

I appreciate that. Before I jump off the deep end, just wanted to be sure it does what none of mine will do. Other wise no need to sell detectors to get that one if it is not better than what I have.....Jack

Racer - 9 years ago
There has been a lot of talk or hype about the Racer metal detectors.I for one am very interested. What I would like to see is someone take their Racer to a well hunted out location. If they get targets that appear good, mark them someway. Then take several medium and high dollar detectors and see if any or how many of the same targets that were marked by the Racer and see how well other detector

Notching is probably not for those that dig everything above iron. I have found 116 gold rings. Without notching I would not have found many of those rings. It all depends what you are hunting for and where. Folks who lose jewelry are usually in a place where a lot of people have been. Knowing people it is usually a very trashy location.....Jack

The rings I found since 2009. Found about sixty percent in the water of swimming areas of lakes. The other 40 percent I found on land. Big drought here and found most in what was swimming areas., volleyball courts and tot lots. Found the ones on land with a Garrett Ace 250. I have several detectors but for some reason the 250 seemed hot on gold. It is not a high frequency machine, but seems to h

There has been a lot of talk about a detector for finding gold rings. If there were such a detector. For one I am glad there are lots of pulltabs. There would be few gold rings to find. Look what has happened to silver coins. For me I am glad there are thousands of pull tabs. I have found 116 gold rings. Just takes a little more work.No pulltabs no more gold rings to be found unless you are the

Tom: I hope what I am about to say is not taken the wrong way. I mean it as constructive criticism for future traing DVDs.i HAVE BEEN DETECTING FOR 32 YEARS AND OWNED MANY DIFFERENT DETECTORS.Not AN EXPERT IN ANY OF THEM. ALWAYS WANTING TO LEARN MORE. I WAS ONE OF THE FIRST TO ORDER YOUR dvd.
THE TITLE OF YOUR dvd IN ESSENCE WAS METAL DETECTING IN THE REAL WORLD. BUT YOU WERE HUNTING ON PRIVATE
