The story about the Indians burying coins is true! I was fortune enough to see half of a cache of gold and silver coins found in the 1970's where a prominent Choctaw Indian lived in the 1800's. I have been fortunate enough to find 2 gold coins in my 28 or so years of detecting. Both are $1 coins, one dated 1852 the other is 1854. I found the first one in 1985 at an older fairground site in Texas. The second coin was found in April of this year at a ghost town site in Okla.
