As always, thanks for responding Daniel. I agree it is a great price. I had held off on PI's, but this price is too good to pass up. Good luck with the upcoming Hunting season.

It appears Minelab is reintroducing the Minelab GPX 4500 at a price of $2,699. The package includes a 11" & 15" coil. Great price I think!
How does it compare in depth and performance to the 4800 and 5000 for Civil War relics? I hunt predominately in good ground but would like to do DIV in the future.
Thanks for the guidance!

TNSS. Good to hear from you. I hope all is well.
I agree 100% this one of the best articles on the Deus I have read in some time. I read the string several times, took notes, and even summarized the data into a small document for use in the field.
What I was trying to do was to simplify the wealth of knowledge into a program based on all the discussions. I see two programs given my hunt

Great conversation. Thank you.
So, I am attempting to summarize what was discussed into two summary programs: One for Iron and one for Open Field. I am intrigued by a couple of things.
I hunt in good ground (low iron, clay)
I know there are masked targets by iron.
Only targets found recently have been deep (whispers) or shallow and barely missed by a coil. Hence my rea

Do coil covers affect depth? My brother says they do. I am sure it depends on the unit, but in general? Thoughts?
PS: air testing says no affect!

I am considering an XP Deus to add to my Civil WarRelic machine collection. I have an XLT for deep bullets ~12" and an AT Pro for brass.
The only thing that concerns me on the XP is depth. I am a quick learner and experienced hunter. But from the few videos on CW hunting I have seen, most finds are 8" or less.
I plan on the 11" coil to help. Are my concerns on depth a cons

TNSS - thanks for the response. I should have mentioned I read that report. Excellent too!
What I cannot grasp my head around is the real life relic world. Most tests I have seen deal with coins. Pre-DST - standard rule was rule AM, BP, and high sensitivity for depth for Relics.
Now, I don't know anymore. Coin tests from Tom suggest a .3" differential on depth between the 4 comb

Trying to clear up some confusion on my part after the DST upgrade. For pure Relic (Civil War) hunting with the 11" Coil, what combination of 9.0 vs. 9.1 and All-Metal vs. Dicrimination should I use for raw depth?
Ground I hunt in is good ground with low mineralization. There are iron nails/fence, but not overly carpeted. Low EMI.
If Disc, I assume - sen 99 (if possible), disc 0, Bo

tnsharpshooter:
Great post and fantastic finds. I wanted to ask you a question that NCWayne so graciously provided his opinions. Is it your experience that the Discrimination mode on the F75 SE 2 (Upgraded) is as deep, shallower, or deeper than the All Metal mode? NCWayne indicated he hunts in discrimination as well.
I gather that All Metal took a hit with the upgrade and Discrimination

Thanks NC Wayne. Great summary. Are you finding the Disc mode better than AM with the upgrade? I may have misinterpreted what I read, but it seems the Disc mode got a boost with the upgrade (on depth), but AM took a hit. Maybe I am wrong.
Also, using the stock 11" coil?
Lastly, (sorry to pepper you with questions), but what are you seeing on deep targets? Any TID? Bouncy TID?

NCWaye: What settings are you running with the new upgrade? I just upgraded and haven't had a chance to run it due to the weather. Dang cold! PS: Congrats on the great finds.

Tom:
Is there a way to compare the "chattiness" of the f75 w DST vs the racer? I know it depends on power lines, location, ground...etc. A gut feel for the unit in your experience would suffice. Thanks!

Tom, as always, fantastic job. The two things that stick in mind are:
(1.) As possum mo said, EMI. I have the 2nd Gen F75 LTD, I still think it's a little chattery. Better with the upgrade, but still find myself playing with settings more than I like.
(2.) Depth comparisons say on buttons and Minie balls? I won't it you in a court of law, but what does your gut say?
Thanks

Thank you for your last response. So many times, I hear why we should have another detector based on XYZ capability. You always present a fair assessment without shooting holes. My opinion of these websites should be to maximize what we have. Present arguments for better technology, and to review what is new is always greatly appreciated. Bias is part of human nature, but I think I

Thanks Keith. Great tips. Always enjoy your posts. Keep them coming!
I will try the suggestion of digging 11/12. Also, I will try varying sweep speed/changing angles. I did some of that, but not as much as I probably should have.
Friends I hunt with have an XLT that is killer on bullets at 10". It gives a Low Growl/No Bars on the screen. It's not 100% as deep nails can some

I buried a Civil War bullet at a measure depth of 10" in a plowed field. I was running in All-Metal mode, Bp, Sensitivity at 60 (due to EMI), Threshold +1. When coil was swept over the coil, it registered 6-7 on the VDI.
Audio was good, but the field was littered with nails registered the same with good audio response.
Switched to Discrimination, same result.
So, I likely passed

I have a Fisher F75 LTD and White's XLT. I mainly hunt for relics, but occasionally coin hunt to keep up my skills!
I am considering the AT Pro and would like feedback. My only concerns centers on depth on land. I am sure with practice, depth will increase. My observations from You Tube (and I don't trust Diggers ) is that the items found tend to be 6-8" deep. Where we hunt,

The machine is barely 4 months old. So yes, it is the new and improved. I have read Tom's articles in detail. Thanks for asking and responding.
Ozzie:
Good to hear from you again. Thanks for the advice. The Coil has not been wet lately other than DAMP grass. No rain, creeks, or any other extremely wet experiences.
I did do a frequency shift. I did notice when I hit

I was out with the F-75 SE this weekend. I was operating in a plowed field looking for Civil War relics. The ground was good (Balance around 55) on a beautiful cool sunny day.
I was running a program that seems to fit what most people say to use for Relics: Bp, +1 Threshold, All-Metal. The only challenge was the Sensitivity. I was able to run it AT MOST around 60 before chatter sat in. S

Thanks Ozzie. My first run on the 75. My XLT set up in All-Metal was killer. So far, I think the 75 can meet or exceed that.
One more question, you run in BP Mode? I have seen some people put it in JE.
Thoughts?

I have several hours with the Fisher F75 SE/LTD in Discrimination mode. I am heading out to hunt for Civil War Relics for the first time this weekend.
The ground is "good" and expect low to moderate EMI. Mostly low.
Doing research, I am thinking of running the following settings. I could use anyone's opinion.
All-Metal - Motion
Threshold +1
Audio Pitch = Personal Pref
