Thanks Tom. I getcha, there just isn't one "perfect" detector for everything. Maybe Dimitar will come out with a multi frequency Tarsacci, and WITH great ID! Thinking about it, I should have asked - in your comparison of the 8" Manticore coil vs the Tarsacci, were you comparing it to the Tarsacci 9" coil or the 12" beast? Either way, I'm surprised how much d

Wow, that's impressive for an 8" coil! I imagine you get another inch or two with the stock 11" coil? I'm a land hunter and I wonder how the Manticore compares to the Tarsacci's depth on land (mild to moderate mineralization). Thanks!

You asked for crazy requests for coil sizes, well, I'm going to go pyschadelic on ya! The ultimate coil would be somewhat akin to a Russian nesting doll in that it is made up of multiple layers of detecting rings nestled within each other. It starts off at 15 inches and if your terrain calls for a smaller coil, you simply peel off an outer ring and decrease its size to say 13". Need

In Factory Presets...... the Manticore is approx 4% better at ID'ing iron............... thus/therefore..........4% less iron-falsing rate.
BUT......... then you add Ferrous Limits.......Upper & Lower......(and compare it to EQX Fe & F2).,.,.,.,.,.,.,., and the Manticore adjustability thereof. HERE is where it really makes a difference:

Correct, I absolutely would NOT like an edge/side key for long press noise cancel. I dont like the side buttons on the EQX already as is. Whatever hot key KEYPAD position is most convenient is how I would set up the long press key as that will get used most.
In regards to your inland settings, when you said "Sens 2-points higher than EMI. 2-points INTO the EMI. THEN..... a L

Tom - couple of things here. You mentioned that Minelab might make the HotKeys a software update sometime in the future. Before they do that, I hope they ask for user preferences before assigning a specific feature to a specific key. As I mentally visualize using each hotkey location, and how I would go about accessing it, I am right handed and would likely use my thumb to hit each key. Since

Correct, you will never get all targets (have you read Toms article The Painful Truth; its on the home page and is quite amazing), but I am trying to do what I can to maximize my time and efforts when I go over a spot. Its kind of like the ground balance or not ground balance argument. Sure it often only makes a "little bit" of improvement, but why not do what we can to get the best

Tom; Thanks for taking time to answer some questions; I honestly didnt think you would have time with all you have on your plate with the Manticore and everything else! Thanks again, it clarifies a few points I was unsure of.

I have read the manual several times now and there are certain things that do not seem to be fully/properly explained, or even explained at all, so I want to see what other people's explanations are on the following points. Please chime in on any of them that you think you can clarify; I'm sure many others have had the same question(s) so this could be a useful thread for newbies as wel
