Thanks Keith, I am going to get a T2 instead of the F75 for the reasons mentioned above. The T2's better target ID stability, unmasking, and other benefits are more desirable in my style of hunting. I wish I could try them both side by side in my test garden but as usual, funds are limited. -Don

Thanks for the detailed response Keith. Do you think the latest T2 LTD has the same qualities as the current revision T2-C? (in DE mode)

Yes, running in DE mode.
I understand they should be about the same. I have read Dave J.'s posts.
But I have been a little confused seeing fairly recent videos with the F70/F75 jumping around and other videos showing the T2 holding steady ID. (on a dime for example)
Thanks,
Don

Question for those that have owned both the newer T2's and F75's made in the last year or two:
Are the Target ID's less stable on the F75's?
I have seen some video's and forum complaints about jumpy target ID's on the F75/F70's recently.
I have never tried the T2 or F75 but I am leaning toward buying the F75 LTD unless the T2 LTD is more stable.

Lowboy,
I thought the G2+ and F19 were identical electronically.
I am surprised that you found the F19 more sensitive.
What did you notice on the G2+, less depth or stability?

Des,
Should Minelab be able to create a fast recovery CTX 3030?
I have been confused about why they don't put a faster processor in the unit unless there are technical difficulties with doing so.

Still learning how to deal with these blended tones myself.
I have found that turning the discrimination up can leave you with too many false high tones.
So, I guess it's best to leave disc off or very low on these machines. This slows me down a lot. Hopefully, with time it will become easier listening to all the different target signals.

Wow, internet experts.
The truth is that new release detectors sometimes have bugs.
I usually don't buy in the first 6 months until any issues are worked out.
Sometimes, jumping the gun to try a new machine out.
Personal examples:
Fisher F19 Recall (first batch had depth issues)
Minelab GPX-4500 Recall (first batch had bad diodes and chatter)
Other machines that had starting issue

Hello Dilek, (at Nokta)
I am going to have Monte evaluate my machine first vs his known good Relic.
If he finds that something is different from his units, I will let you know & make a video.
Thanks for your response!

Thanks Keith, That explanation helps.
Do you leave your ID Filter low (like 1 or 2) to hear the blended low/high signals when working a site? (especially one with a lot of old nails)
Do you ever run high ID Filter (Discrimination) to erase the iron signals or does that leave you with too many ferrous high tones?

Thanks for the video Keith,
Does the Fors Relic give more mixed audio signals than the other Fors models?
Running VLF detectors by other manufacturers, I am used to one signal or the other. (Low or High tone only)
Therefore, I would up the discrimination level to listen for high tone coin signals.
I am thinking the source of all the iron falsing problems for myself and others is the ble

Thanks for the detailed responses Monte. I know that others are having the same problems in the other thread here. I don't know what to think. Your experience is completely different from mine. I contacted Nokta to see what is going on, bad machine again or bad ground here throwing the machine off??? I will see what they say. I could ship you the control box to see if something is wrong with

Preston,
I will try putting my machine in the fridge!
You never know, electronic components are funny sometimes.
(I actually used to work in the electronic components industry.)
Every day has been in the 70's to 90's here.

Hello Keith,
I am in Washington State and we do have a lot of basalt here.
I have tested the machine from a Sensitivity of 40 on up in each mode.
Yes, I had less iron falsing in the lower sensitivity but then I start to lose my good targets too. (test garden)
Out of all the modes, COG is the one I have tested the least.
I will give COG some more time this weekend when I have a chance.

Michigan RH,
Where does your Ground Balance come in at?
I haven't found any site I can use this machine at yet.
I have been detecting for the past 9 years using all different machines so I am not a newbie.
Either there are lemon Relics floating around or it doesn't work in certain high mineral ground.
I have had two Relic machines.
One would air test 3" less on a nick

Jack,
Buy one and see how it works vs. the other models.
I am putting mine up for sale if Kellyco doesn't take it back.
I am calling them on Monday. I can't use this machine. I already wasted a lot of time on it. Nails sound sweet like coins. My F19 and Gold Racer are much better at least in my ground.

The machine has the feeling of being "half-baked" and needs the bugs worked out. I consider it $700 flushed down the toilet. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a Fors Relic+ released in the future fixing the problems. It's also a possibility that Nokta used some bad or cheap internal components and there are good & bad machines out there. I have had 2 Relic units and bot

Wayne,
if I made a video, it would have too much swearing!
Like you, I am having way too much high tone falsing at all settings & modes.
DI2 is the most well behaved at Imask of 4 but still bad compared to other detectors like the Gold Racer. I have mineralized ground and I don't think the Relic can handle it. I plan on buying a Racer 2 and compare to the Relic in my ground.

Sharpshooter,
Yes, my ground is mineralized and I ground balance at 85 in my backyard.
It could be that the Relic cannot handle the ground well here.
Today, I buried a dime in a new location at 3" down.
Ground balance at 85 and I can get correct target ID most of the time. (least jumpy in DI2)
I also tried a 5" deep dime but with the small coil you wouldn't dig it, sounds

Dean,
I live in Washington State.
There might be something wrong with this unit as well.
Serial number ending in 3098, I think this is #98 off the production line.
My first unit was Serial # 3018 and had 3" less on air tests over this 3098 unit.
It does seem very odd the way it doesn't work well at any setting.
(My DI3 can't even pick up a 3" dime when in the groun

Dean,
I like the Gold Racer a lot! Actually, it's the Nokta AU Gold Finder which is just the Gold Racer circuit inside a Gold Bug looking box.
It's very hot on tiny gold and works as advertised.
I use the Minelab pulse machines for gold prospecting/mining usually. (Minelab SD2100V2 or SDC 2300, I used to use the GPX-5000)
I bought the AU Gold Finder to clean up tiny pickers on c

Keith,
Yes, in this test I was at an ID Filter of 80. I was only testing on high tone coins vs nails.
It seems to work pretty good with IMASK of 5 or 6.
I think it's costing me some depth. I am going to play around with it some more when I have time.
I know on the Gold Racer when I move the IMASK up the target ID is a bit less stable.
I am still learning the Relic and what works bes

Dean,
What State do you detect in?
I do have a lot of magnetite and hematite in my soil.
There are quite a few hot rocks both large & small.(usually basalt)
I think this causes a lot of grief for the Relic's discrimination.
The Gold Racer handles my ground much better but that machine was designed for high mineralization I believe.

I did some testing today trying to eliminate the nails and other iron giving false high tones in the ground. (out of the ground they go low tone)
In my ground, an IMASK setting of 5 or 6 gets rid of most all of those pesky false high tone signals. (Ground balance is 78 at one site and 85 at the other)
It works best in DI2 or SWT and OK in DI3 and DEEP. With these high IMASK settings, I can ac

I will give the Relic some more field time.
Dean, What are your favorite settings for coin hunting on the Relic?
Keith, I will give your 3 tone setting a try.
I am also going to buy a Racer 2 so I can compare them side by side and satisfy my curiosity.
You can never have too many detectors!
Thanks,
Don
