Lets see ... I have been metal detecting since the early 70's.
Like reading books about it, like talking to other hobbyists and hunting with most of them, and share inf with my hunting buddies.
I never thought it mattered much about who knew more or had more experience.
I just swing my coil and dig the beeps that sound like something good.
Over the years I have bought, used, and sold m

The ham radio market does the same thing.
Sells a new radio for one price then a year later comes out with improved version 2 and drops the price of the original.
Kills the trade-in value and sticks it to all the buyers of the original version.
I would never but a new radio or detector until few years have passed for the bugs to get worked out and the new improved version is released.

Perhaps the used market is saturated.
Only so many hobbyists and a ton of detectors.
Seen them starting to show up in pawn shops at bargain prices.
Bought a White's XLT in very nice condition with an extra D2 coil.
The D2 coil did not work with the XLT but the pawn shop did not know that.
Price for both? .... $275.
I have tried to sell a really nice Fisher F-75 LTD special edition

TN sharpshooter, Keith is right ... I started detecting in mid 70's with a Metrotech detector ... it had a threshold that went silent over iron and beeped on non-ferious metal.
Wasnt very deep, ergonomically incorrect, and tiresome to use.
That was an upgrade from a BFO that had to be tuned.

The Minelab Explorer, E-trac, CTX-3030, and other BBS and FBS detectors have server me well at salt water beaches.
New Gold Bug 2 is to be delivered Monday so I can get in on the Micro-Jewlery that many others are overlooking.
Based this decision on Tom's reviews and field testing.
Got a CZ-5 that I would never sell or trade but if I had to choose one it would be the CTX-3030.

I just ordered a new GB2 based on Tom's recommendation of that detector for Micro Jewelry in the sand .
We have a few Volleyball nets in the sand and that is where I plan to use it most.
Question for anyone using this detector like this ..... Where do you set the sensitivity so you are not digging really deep targets.
I just want to find the small recently lost stuff down around 6&quo
